I remember going to the U of M in Minneapolis, to get my music degree. Studying classical and all that. Then I saw these guys for the first time at the Cedar Cultural Center. My mind was blown more than it's ever been....and I'd had been blowing my own mind for years. Great musicians playing hyper intense music, with the comedic genius of King to break it up and give your brain a rest between pieces. Thank you Happy Apple for the stuff you guys do and for helping me learn about what music is/should/can be. Where the hell does this music even come from?!? I mean, where on the spectrum, the tradition, did it evolve from? I'd love to know!

I'm a big fan of Dave King for a long time. But I found this video because I was curious about who is this guy playing saxophone in Bon Iver. And omg...

Thanks for putting these videos up! I caught The Bad Plus in Tokyo two weeks before this date. I got to speak to Dave King and bug him about Happy Apple going on tour, but he said it's a shame they don't have the support to make it to Asia or Europe. I'm just glad to know that this trio are still playing shows. Total luminaries - so many "improvising" musicians could learn a lot by watching these guys; no tired standards here. Guess I'll have to take a vacation to the Twin Cities area...

I aspire to one day create music as complex and as pleasing as this...it will never happen until immortality is invented.

Jake Duea It definitely won't with that attitude. I know it's hard man, I'm in the same boat. But keep at it and one day we'll both be able to express ourselves through music as easy as talking. Just like these guys but unique to us

Does anyone know what kind of Yamaha drum set this could be? The bass drum is really small!

Cant help but laugh at that remark! Like looking at a river and saying, "Nice, little too much water though".. or looking at Pollock "Pretty cool, kind of a lot of paint though"
