I remember going to the tower in early 80's .The circus wasn't there anymore.It was a lazer light show.The circus was moved to the pleasure beach. There was an aquarium in it. Little pubs down the stairs.There was an insect exhibition near the top.A dinosaur edventure ride.You didn’t pay extra to go up the Tower either. There was huge pub(Tower Bar)on the ground floor behind the prom. Kids go in in daytime.

If my memory serves me right, on the "legs" of the tower is the makers plates of the Butterley Company Famous Iron works which also manufactured the Steelwork for the Tyne Bridge and St Pancras Railway station in London one of the last projects they did before closure was The Falkirk Wheel in Scotland!

Thanks, Stephen. I would have loved to have been at the Tower ballroom in its busiest years through the 1930s and 40s when the resident dance bands like Bertini and his band played. Interestingly, originally dancing wasn't allowed on Sundays, instead sacred music was played. Also in them days gentlemen were not allowed onto the dance floor unless they were going to dance with a lady. My oh my how times have changed. 🙂

Happy Birthday Blackpool Tower spent many happy times in there has a child playing in jungle Jim's while my mum and dad had a dance in the ballroom. And of course the tower circus with the wonderful ring master Norman Barrett

I remember coming to Blackpool years ago when they showed people how the Blackpool rock was being made. That also was very interesting. It’s a shame that they don’t do it anymore 👍🥰❤️see you in your next video xxx

I think most people of an age can remember seeing Rock being made on "Blue Peter", how the letters are built up and wrapped in white rock then the outer pink rock then the massive bundle is rolled out until it becomes the diameter of a stick of rock! Sorry am I giving away secrets?

May this Tower last a very Long Time and may it attract and bring to Blackpool many, many more Visitors to go up to the Top in the Famous Lift. It does remind You of Paris's Eiffel Tower. Happy birthday tower! Was sat underneath it just 2 weeks ago, first time in blackpool for approx 20 years and guess what... i returned to Scotland last week with bloomin Covid and never left the house for a week. Stay safe out there! Nice video on the aurora btw. 🎉

First time I went up tower 1974 I was 11 have very vivid memories along with the good old days when you could walk into pleasure beach free and pay per ride no wristbands I believe it’s about £50 per person now ouch lol whether you go on rides or not love blackpool the whole place the memories the sentimental times when all my family mum dad my younger brother alas all passed away now but got the photos that will last forever

Happy Birthday Blackpool Tower, Hi Steve, known fact, did you know you can see Blackpool Tower from New Brighton, on a clear day. Me and my son go quite often to New Brighton. It also has some aurora activity.

Mr Wildside, check out a vid on Wembley Tower, it was going to be over twice the height of Blackpool Tower, and a fair bit higher than The Eiffel Tower, but due to cost-cutting on the tower design, it suffered subsidence, and also a lack of money meant that after the first section was completed the project was scrapped. Now that would have been some tower..

When I was five years old I was taken to the Tower Zoo - home of the lion that ate Albert. And yes they had a big lion in a steel cage (presumably not the child eater), I was terrified when it roared. There are photos of New Brighton Tower, similar, but scrapped.

The first time i ever went into the tower waa 1982 with my mun and nan to the tower ball room, my mum first took me up the tower in 1985 i myself have took a ride to the top many times since those rickety lifts 😂😂 the tower had up until 1992 me and Maxine are hoping to take my mum to top for 70th birthday in June
