I saw Pat in concert in 2017 opening for Toto and she was awesome. She still can belt them out. And her husband, Neil Giraldo is her lead guitarist; they have been married since 1982. I always loved this video. I always wondered at the end of it: where was she going; was she going back home? React to Pat's: "We Live for Love" and "We Belong"; she was pregnant w/one of her daughters in that video. Happy B-day, Pat!

Pat’s most powerful song is: Hell is for Children She and husband Neil were reading about the rise is abuse in America. Neil grabbed his guitar, writing the melody while Pat wrote the lyrics.

This song and music video is so relatable for me. The contentious father and daughter relationship reflects the lyrics really well. I can certainly relate and identify with that relationship. And their acting is great and convincing.

An awesome voice and a rock and roll icon, no mistake. And Neil Giraldo is a veritable riff master. Not a bad lead guitarist, either. Here's a little rock and roll trivia for you: It is fairly well known that the very first video ever played on MTV was "Video Killed the Radio Star" by The Buggles. But what was the second? It was "You Better Run" by Pat Benatar. Lots of great suggestions have been made already and I highly recommend each and every one of them. The one that I'll add is actually a cover of a song from the early 1950s called "Bloodshot Eyes". It was written as a country song by Hank Penny & Ruth Hall with Penny recording it first. The great Wynonnie Harris covered it in 1951 and it was a Top 10 hit on the R&B charts (also called "race music charts" at the time). It is Wynonnie Harris' version that Benatar is paying homage to with her rendition. As we say in Scotland, tioraidh an-drasta 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 LL&P🖖

The interesting thing about this video is that she didn't really want to do it. She Saud ,"I am a singer and not really a dancer." If you go to one of her concerts, you sed how small she is. She sits on a bar stool while she sings. No dancing, lol. Her mother was an opera singer and likely has the same lungs as her mom. She still tours. Usually with Styx, REO Speedwagon, or some other and from that era, which is fun. They used to do the state fair circuit. COVID has gotten in the way of concerts. You won't be disappointed if you see her in concert.

I love the song but the video tells a great visual story too, I took it as she left home at a young age against the wishes of her father. And found street life to be rough as she seemingly was in some sort of club where there was an abusive owner/pimp and she got tired of it and rebelled against him. All her girls with her in the club followed her lead and they broke out of there and went their separate ways in the end scene. The video really tells the story.

As much as I love this video it was so out of character for Pat compared to her other videos and I always wondered if the whole concept for it was someone else’s. In other words, was this video driven by her record label? The hair, costumes, the choreography - are all just so different from anything else she did.
