Hello from the UK. Im glad you had a nice trip and enjoyed Scotland. I enjoyed the vid, and your canoe vids. If your interested the kettle was originally made or intended for fisherman in ireland. The first few were handmade to order. On there website theres some interesting history. best regards.

I love these video's. I have watched them all and some of them many times. Last summer me and my significant other traveled hundreds of miles on our canoe, and it was for the most part our first year canoeing ever. We quickly graduated from weekend flat water trips to long 6 day excursions in wild and sometimes frightening rivers. Your videos played a real role during the winter when I was researching canoeing and canoe tripping. I often think back to these videos in certain situations.

I just received my Base Camp model Saturday! I will try it out in the next few days and I am excited! BTW, the New and Improved model has a green rubber plunger that is also a kettle whistle!

I have one of these. It works great. Very fast. Saw a video where the guy put the cork on, and it blew off and sprayed boiling water all over the place.

Many people think that you have to get a fire "going" before setting the kettle on the base--in fact, if you put the kettle on and THEN light the tinder/kindling, the fire will be encouraged by the chimney construction! That way you are also less likely to get some of your fuel between base and kettle [as happened in this case--on your right side, out of your view].

Thanks! I was wondering this. I've watched only one person light the fire with the kettle on (lighter) and one more quickly put the kettle on when using a firesteel. It made sense to me and I'm glad you verified it.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of the aluminum vs stainless, aside from weight?

💭🤔....Neat stove/kettle combo, but here in the wildfire-prone American west, I think it would be too dangerous. The way that fire roars out of the top of that tippy thing,...& with a novice using it, a major disaster would ensue!🔥🔥🔥

+James Hildebrand I was told a stick stove does not count as a contained fire
@joycechampion31248 жыл бұрын
So what does that mean? Can you use the Kelly Kettle during a fire ban?

These are great for freeze dried meals or hot beverages. They suck for standard cooking though

Fill with water before you start. Light a small NEAT fire in the fire bowl then put the kettle on the base, making sure it is level, with the spout facing away from you. Make sure the handle is not located on the same side as the spout. .......and please note if you leave the cork in it will not "fly out and hit you in the eye". However it could damage the kettle but more importantly, boiling water will spurt out and damage you. My friend if you are demonstrating a piece of kit do it properly as per instructions. These things are great.....but only if used correctly. Your clown act was not appropriate in this case.
