The actress, best known for playing Joanie Cunningham on the popular sitcom, also starred in her own short-lived spinoff, "Joanie Loves Chachi." Cristy Fajardo reports.

Harlock2day - I thought the same thing. All the smarmy talk when she is dead, but no one lifted a finger to help her when they could.
@47EGS7 жыл бұрын
That's completely understood, but she had other opportunities as well. The problem is she seemingly thought of herself as an actress, and nothing more. Henry Winkler went on to write, produce, and direct, as did Ron Howard and Anson Williams. Chris Farley had the same issue, getting tired of the fat guy who fell down. Then write, direct, and produce. He had all the knowledge and contacts (where it really is) but he didn't do anything with it. Both Moran and Farley were one dimensional, due to the limited beliefs they had about themselves. That's the sad part.
@davidlucey5437 жыл бұрын
MCGamer why do you think she had these opportunities?
@47EGS7 жыл бұрын
Gary Marshall made every effort to keep the cast from the pitfalls of the 70s. He did his best to keep drugs off the set and have the cast play charity softball events, and much more. There is more than enough evidence to demonstrate that many other cast members went on and put their abilities to work behind the camera. Supposedly, Ron Howard and Winkler tried to get Moran on the set of Arrested Development, but for some reason she declined. She had no more, nor less, insider contacts than Anson Williams, Donny Most, Howard, Winkler, Penny Marshall, and Scott Baio. Even Gavan O'Herlihy who played Chuck in only 9 episodes had a decent career. She knew Marshall, the head of ABC, Howard, Winkler, Anson Williams. etc... Think if you knew them, or better, they knew you. What doors could they open for you? One call on your behalf to a TV or movie exec from Ron Howard or Henry Winkler and you'd be set. Anyone who could have been type-cast would be Rob Reiner, yet from what he learned during his time on All In The Family (comic timing, directing, writing, producing) he went on to have a very successful career. Many of these people think of themselves as one dimensional, as only an actor. That's why Howard left. He had been acting for nearly 20 years by the time he left HD. He wanted to do more, and he did. It's the limited thinking of Moran. I can only act, and that's it.

All I could think the whole time I was reading about this was that if everyone knew she was struggling, where the hell was Ron Howard and his $140 million. She was in a trailer park, and supposedly the cast of Happy Days was tight. And then to read what Howard tweeted pissed me off even more. He of course has no obligation, and perhaps him helping would've simply enabled a bad situation. But if I were him with that kind of money, I'd certainly make sure those who I built an amazing show that entertained untold millions of people off of...were ok as life went on. Maybe he did for all I know, but no mention is being made of him having anything to do with her; seems like much of what the rest of the cast are tweeting and chiming in on is similar. Joanie was an early childhood crush of mine, entertained me and showed me a side of how women can be. This just isn't supposed to happen.
@ironspade7 жыл бұрын
I wonder the same. Like at least have her stay at the guest house. I think she was a puzzle piece that just didn't fit with the rest of the casts adult lives. Still partied hard till the end. She was so loved so like you said it should not have happened.

THIS is very sad for many of the Baby Boomers who watched her on the TV show. Fist the teenage girl on the TV show Different Strokes and then the young lady whom played the daughter on That 70's Show and now Erin Moran. All these ladies died sadly before their time. I feel badly for them all meanwhile people could not wait to post their hate comments and judgments. #RIP

56 is too young ..the cause of death? When they don't know yet the cause of death or don't reveal it so quick it is never good sign, which usually means drugs, suicide or foul play. Happy days is way before my time..but liked the show on reruns, since it is even on till now on some tv channel or another. She was great in the show!:)
@DVincentW6 жыл бұрын
An autopsy report from the Harrison County coroner indicated the cause of death to be complications of stage four squamous cell carcinoma of the throat; toxicology test showed no illegal narcotics were involved in her death and no illegal substances were found in Moran's home.

I don't think celebrity played a role in this. Mental illness starts generally in early 20's. But still I do not understand how this tv icon would free fall as much as she did without someone from the cast or family to catch her even for just a brief moment. The cast was a very nice group of beloved people. Henry was particular poetic in his farewell. I can't help but feel sad for this woman. Maybe she didn't reach out for help and maybe she hung around with a bad crowd. She seems like the kind of person that likes to have fun and she was not destined for the ordinary life, good or bad. She remains a star in my heart for all eternity.

The Kentucky Viper Militia extends its condolences to the family of Erin Moran. She will be missed by her many fans. Also, we formally deny any involvement in her unfortunate passing. She is certainly in heaven with Jesus, Allah, the Boston Strangler and Lee Harvey Oswald. May Father Gregory Rasputin grant her peace and prepare her a place amongst the righteous angels and beasts of redemption. God bless Erin Moran and God bless those who suffer. We beseech thee, Father Gregory, to exalt Erin and restore her to the sexy version of her True and Exalted Self. For all you shit heads blaming her former co-stars, maybe you have never had a friend or relative who was mentally ill. You cannot help these people. So many of my brothers in the KVM are or have been afflicted with various mental conditions and most of us have spent time in the nervous hospital. About the only real treatment is calling down goetic demons such as Andras, Baal or Adramelech or Lamashtu. Sometimes you gotta go all the way back to the ancient Sumerian demons, but most of us don't speak their language. Pretty much the only people that can understand ancient Sumerian as a spoken tongue are demons, jackals and that fella from the point five group. He mostly kills people on behalf of the KVM and the Amish underground now and he dont do much demon work anymore. Just on occasion iffin we ask him nice. Killed six illuminati at the Corbin conference down in kentucky in a dispute over witch graves between the illuminati and the kvm. Godd bless the boston strangler and god bless erin moran!
