Such nice sharing about your Dad, Daryl. My father worked for Lockheed Martin in Sunnyvale, Ca as an engineer. We all have more things in common than not! I like the kitty corner idea another commenter suggested, would that work? Something will work out I know it! Father’s Day was wonderful thank you for asking us, we hope yours was a joy. The Great Depression was late 1929-1941. My mother-in-law was born just a few days after the stock market crash in '29. So your dad was actually born, not at the tail end, but closer to the beginning. All of our parents started their young lives in this dark era when things were hard and jobs were scarce (everything was scarce). Because they lived on a farm, my mom said they never went hungry which was good. It's sad that it took WWII to bring our country out of the depression. I'm glad you have such fond memories of your dad.

I would not want my headboard against the front window next to the porch, just because of being next to the window and road noise waking me up. If you cannot put the bed against the wall that the fireplace is on or against the bathroom or closet? wall, then the side window is what I would choose. You will figure it out and it will be really nice. The porch is so nice! Making the kitchen sink window a double window is going to be so nice!
