As you know, it’s International Women’s Day. I filmed a very personal vlog in January as I got to be included in one of the most powerful movements in history: The Women’s March. I was so proud to be walking among strong, underrepresented heroes that came out to march. We marched through the wet streets of Vancouver; no drop of rain could stop us. How lucky and grateful am I to be a woman, a wife, a mother, a human being? I am so grateful to be able to speak my truth, and it is my life’s dream to pursue equality for all. Be forewarned, this reaction is a little emotional, and a little personal. I’m just so proud to be lifted by all of the collective voices across the world...time’s up! I just came across this video and wanted to say a big thank you for using your celebrity status to bring some sensitivity and attention to this subject. It's important. It's not okay that in 2018 things are still not really equal. Not a whole lot has changed since the early 1970's when I started my career. So, keep speaking up and thank you again!

Oh my God Gen, I look up to you so much. You're always so strong and I am so proud of you and your family. i always come back to this video. i always come back to Gen if i need inspiration, strength and leadership, Gen will always be such a powerful and amazing woman that i am so greatful to have in my life. as a young woman with no real mother figure in my life, Gen has truly been that figure to me and i am just so so so greatful she uses her platform for good things like this.

I don’t know what I can say. I feel like I will either speak so much or not enough. This video made me realize even more of what happened, what is happening and what will happens if we don’t fight for what we think is right. I know that it will be tough, but I will fight for my rights, for my sister’s and mom’s right, for every women I know and every that I don’t know. Just because our anatomy is different doesn’t mean we should be treated differently. There will be moment when everything will burden me, where I will feel useless, weak and not important, but it is not the truth. I am a strong ( almost ) woman, I am enough and I deserve every right. I will not accept degrading comments, awful things and disgusting texts messages and looks. I want for all of us to be equality, no matter our skin color, our beliefs, sexuality. We deserve equal rights, we deserve everything that we were supposed to have. Today is not only a day that can help us speak out, it is a day that gets us stronger and is giving us the power to choose our future. We are strong 💪

I'm so touched by your humility and thoughtfulness. You are a strong woman and an inspiration for many of us. Watching this video made me realize that we all need to fight the fight together and stand strong. I know this was posted a while ago, but I just saw it for the first time and I had to comment on it. I'm not one to get emotional easily but the sincerity showcased here really moved me. This video is incredibly inspiring and it's made me really want to think about my own life, what I've allowed and what I will never allow again. So thank you, Gen. im so happy that this world is represented by strong women like you, im happy that we can speak our believes and our thoughts , im happy that women got up and started fighting for themselves im happy and im glad to be a daughter and a sister and im proud that one day im going to be able to recreate. im thankful for all the things my strong mother has done for me. My family and i came from CUBA in 2007 where the economy was terribly shattered and my sister and i had no future to look forward to. im 15 years old and im proud to say that my mother and my father have done the impossible to bring my sister and i to Ecuador, but most important my mother had the courage to say " THIS HAS TO STOP, THEY WONT HAVE A FUTURE HERE SO WE NEED TO GO" , and now here we are working our butts off , so we can accomplish what we want as strong women does. im so grateful that this country took me and my family in, and im so happy that ive been able to talk out loud and say my perspective about stuff. so yeah IM PRETTY FREAKIN PROUD TO BE A WOMEN, SO HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY TO ALL OF YOU STRONG AND BRAVE HUMAN BEINGS. happy day gen you deserve it as a mother of three beautiful children and a hero.
