Alot of people don’t realise how influential this Manchester band was on fashion in the late 80s across the country and beyond, the loose fitting clothes, hooded tops etc, working class Manchester fashion spread to other towns and cities and also spread to other countries, cultures and genres of music also took on the image of working class Manchester. It’s strange how some trends start and people don’t realise where things came from. One I am trying to figure out is the chicken parmigiana in the north east, something that wasn’t there when I was a nipper, but is a cultural icon now, where did it REALLY begin?? Wtf lol

Mate I hear you... I rememeber in 89 new to the club scene mate and me dropped half each not sure what to expect... nothing happened (at first!) So dropped the rest. Next thing I am at the bar and the pumps are dancing !!! I look at my mate and he is wide eyed staring... fucked I knew we both had arrived !! First of MANY great nights... from the dance floors of Kent to seeing the sun rising at camber sands waves lapping round shins and acid in our mouths. Dude we were blessed to have been kids at that time

Just reading Ryders book "how to be a rock star" this was filmed by the Bailey brothers at legends in Manchester & yes all the people were on e! The few that arrived straight were quickly given pills. What a brilliant video that perfectly captures the acid house club scene at that time!

Dude, my son's almost 10 now and I'm sad that he'll never experience what we did. I recently spent a couple of hours totting up an approximate amount in pounds, dollars and grams, my intake over the years. It came to, at a fairly conservative estimate, betwixt the ages of 18 and 49 (which I am now) and including booze, 1.2 million. Pounds.

It was filmed in Legends in Manchester, it’s sadly knocked down and a hotel now. I had the best times of my life in that place.

Saw them at The Latin Quarter in Detroit for the Pills and Thrills and Bellyaches tour. It was amazing. About ten yards from the stage. Gel caps that night. 🤪👌

Here after the news of Manchester's 5th Avenue closing. Found a bit of Mondays trivia in the MEN on 5th Ave closure article that it was formerly known as Legends. The Wrote For Luck video was filmed there in 1988. Wrote For Luck was often one of the first warm up tunes played by DJ Ade when it the doors had just opened for the night.

First saw them supporting New Order in 1986. Bloke stood next to me in the audience said: "They're half cut, this lot". Me and my two mates were absolutely hooked from that night on. Because apart from New Order and a few other bands. Most rock and roll outfits didn't sound or look like lads that we knew at that point. It had all gone a bit too twee and indie in the mid 80's. I knew from that night on that they'd become massive at some point, they didn't sound or look like any other band on the scene. Despite them looking like they couldn't give a shit, they sounded very tight and very funky even back then before anything had even been released on record. Went from watching them headlining in front of a couple of dozen people at some gigs to headlining G-Mex a couple of years later.
