My first time here, too. The red tassel makes the berries pop so I believe it was the right decision. Ironically, we don't have Christmas, but I love this idea for birthday gifts for our grandkids. I thought it would be a great idea to use their own pictures, decorate them with their favorite colors, and add tassels, charms, or anything else that would show what they love. It could be a basketball, a dog, maybe a flute, their initials, or a school LOGO. How fun to have that hanging on their bedroom door, their wall, or possibly in their school locker. Just some additional ideas I had while watching you make this. Now, i can't wait to get started. We have 21 grandchildren (so far) so I have my work cut out for me. lol OH! I just might make a day of it and have them help me, too. What a great way to make new memories and enjoy each other's company. Thanks so very much for this!

I love how you cut the pics out of the card. I have used that exact gold around the edge of a wood ornament. I also got several colors from Amazon. It is actually very inexpensive and comes out so beautiful. You add so much detail and embellishments that enhance the beauty of the ornament. Thanks for showing this! 🥰🎄

We used to make these as kids but we used pearls off mother’s broken necklaces and secured them with seed pins. We also used washed meat trays for the base. Yours are so pretty! And I like your idea for the “bail”!

The fact that I'm so totally on board with what you're doing is just a perk! I struggled with the holidays - Thanksgiving through New Years - for DECADES (it's a long and sordid story) but I am now over myself and everyone else involved and am "doing" Christmas for the first time in what feels like forever. PRAISE GOD!! I have made an ornament with the help of Antonio Makes and will absolutely be adding a few of these to my repertoire. They're gorgeous! I never knew that "real" gold leaf was fly-away-ier (??) than "fake" gold leaf. That explains a lot!! Evidence of crafts past continues to float about my house! I love the dipping sponge to pick up a little piece of gold... Brilliant! One of those "why didn't I think of that" moments, for sure! As luck would have it I have virtually everything (or a suitable substitute) you've used here with the exception of, ironically, the card, but that's an easy fix. TYFS this! I love the ornament. Probably because they are birds. About 30 years ago I was taught to gold leaf and did a few projects and never did any more. I moved away. But this is really cute. I use Fabric -Tac to join two ends of ribbons together when I make ornaments. I have that Alenes art glue too but have not used it yet. I’m only up this early because I couldn’t sleep last night. I your one hour ahead. I think red was a good choice, it pops the ornament. Well, I’m going to try to get rest. I’m punchy. Have a great day!
