Tales of Arise review spoiler free review, Tales of Arise is an upcoming action role-playing game developed and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The seventeenth main entry in the Tales series, it was originally planned to release in 2020 only for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but was delayed to September 2021 due to internal quality issues and the ability to launch the game simultaneously on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in addition to its originally targeted platforms

Omg the check mark is so great! As someone who talks to every npc after every event to look for new dialogue. That may be my favorite feature & needs to be more common

The Trails series is the absolute best in that regard. Not only will all NPC's have their own dialogue and experiences every chapter but even between segments of chapters where events happen they all get refreshed with a few more sentences of Dialogue too. If you really value worldbuilding than Trails Of Cold Steel is the defacto leader of JRPG's. Definitely getting Arise after that Demo I'm a huge fan of the series ever since Symphonia!

@@sherrdreamz7232 yes, but it can almost be detrimental to me. I talk to everyone after every main line story beat like I have OCD. Open world, really large world, MMO RPGs physically hurt to play because I'm just running around talking to everyone over and over. A check mark will feel so nice. Like I tried to play BOTW and when I got to the first town I said to myself I can't do this I have analysis paralysis I run in one direction 100ft, then back to center and another direction everywhere

It really is. And I hope the success of Arise encourages other companies to bring back IPs (Breath of Fire, Grandia, Front Mission) and not be afraid to use a bigger budget for them.

I really want to try Legend of Heroes but the fact that you have to play like 8 to 9 previous games in order to understand the story is so discouraging.

@@ianal0028 You don't have to. I started with Cold Steel 1 and understand the narrative of that game just fine. The other games before this just gives you a better sense of the world around you.

I wish my girl would like games as much as I do, she is really hot imho, but she can only play Rayman, and as far as anime, she only likes Inu Yasha and Aot

It’s always awesome to see Kim on more of your videos! Wow, this game looks really cool. It’s got a nice cel-shading, watercolor illustration style. Also, the lighting looks very nice in some areas. The check mark idea should be mandatory in all RPGs to be honest.

@@nightmarishcompositions4536 I would counter this, I was recommended Zesteria and the gameplay almost ruined the whole series for me, maybe if you have played other tales games the love of the series would make the game less of a chore but as a first tales game boy did I pick from the bottom of the pile this looks way better

Good to hear as it will be coming in the mail today and i was already excited to play it but reading all the positive comments about this game makes me happy. So it was worth the 30 dollars i paid for it. And i just finished tales of vesperia definitive edition and it was my 1st tales game and i was blown away it was so good i will be playing it again for sure. Have you played any of the other tales of games and if so do you have any suggestions on the best ones in your opinion?I've heard berseria,symphonia, and xilla 1 and 2 are 3 of the best out of the series.

Good to hear the length is long, but not too long. This helps me decide that this should be my first Tales game, however will be holding off before picking it up as I'm swamped with things I want to play at the moment. The other thing that hurt my impression of the demo (which knocked it from a day one to a wait for some free time) was there being a lot of reading vs having voice over & subtitles. I totally know why this was done, but was really hoping the presentation from an audio perspective would be more in line with Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

I've played every Tales game. Prior to this my favorite was Tales of Vesperia which I played back on Xbox 360 strangely enough. I just finished playing Tales of Arise on the XBOX Series X and it has finally dethroned Vesperia for me. Excellent game. Absolutely worth the purchase.

I'm 20 hours in and the game is a blast. Combat is the real highlight here. Story is good but I'm always eager to go back to fighting. The game evolve in such a way that you are never tired and it never gets repetitive. Game of the year for me so far. Great video.

Just finished Trails of Cold Steel 4 after over 300 hours. Need to beat Ys IX and Sakura Wars remake before buying new games. But this is definitely on my radar when I've hacked down my backlog.

Just wanted to say great review! I watched a few other reviews but could not find the information I was looking for. Must reviews focus on graphics, length, story, and combat. I really wanted to know the other mini game type gameplay elements that it includes and you guys covered it all. Thank you! I'm hoping you have a mass effect remaster review because all other reviews seems to only focus on graphical improvements and say nothing of gameplay.

My PS5 is supposed to arrive this week, and I have Ratchet and Clank, Returnal, and Miles Morales already in my possession, and Tales of Arise coming in at the end of the week....and man, I think I'm most excited to play Tales more than any of the others. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for all of them - but this Tales entry just looks fricking awesome!

I played the free demo on my ps4 pro! It was really awesome! I pre-ordered the collector's edition from the Bandai Namco store. I can't wait. Also, I really hope they come out with a 12 or 26-episode anime like Symphonia, Abyss, Zestiria, and In the case of Vesperia, a feature length film.

How does it rank up against other Tales series games? Symphonia - Great Symphonia 2 - Trash Vesperia - Great Zesteria - Average Berseria - Fantastic All and all the series has a strong track record among the games I've played. I'm definitely buying Tales of Arise at some pint but since games are expensive I probably won't be getting it for another year or two.

Playing this game right now during the holidays. Have played nearly all the Tales games and haven't found one as good as Symphonia and Abyss, but so far, Arise is recapturing that magic I felt when I played Symphonia for the first time

The KO prevention skill you talked about was in the dlc locked portion of the skill tree. You unlock another one through normal game play but you wont have it available at the start.

OK, this is freaky. A couple of days ago I listened to Gaur Plains and then watched your video later and there it was playing in the background. Now today I was walking around locking up at work and put YT Music on and saw Gaur Plains on my list. I thought, ah you know what I fancy some video game music again and searched Mountain Ruins Overflowing...... from Zesteria. I get home from work and put this video on whilst eating my curry and bam, Mountain Ruins Overflowing with Passion for History is playing. I actually had to question whether it was in my head, or on the video. I love the song and the game but it is weird that it happened twice in such a short time I play a song and it comes on in your video.

I'm really enjoying my time with ToA. I really love how there is a lot to look at as you explore. I found myself just stopping and staring into the background quite often. I, also, share the same weirdness with the owl voices. It wasn't as weird to me since this isn't the first time it happened in a Tales game. Think of the cats from Tales of Xillia 2. I really like how the skits really add to the characters development of themselves and each other in terms of story much more than previous entries. Combat has been fun! I haven't gotten tired of finding ways to work combos into different situations and really loving the banter between the characters while fighting.

Honestly this game wasn’t on my radar until I saw your video on the demo. After that I went and played the demo and before I knew it I had pre-ordered the game. Digital version unlocks in about 21 hours from now. Can’t wait to play the full thing!

I've been a Tales of fan since Symphonia came out when I was an early teen so this is of course a day 1 pick up for me. In your first thoughts video, you also mentioned the "skits" and that has been in tales forever, and become a big thing in a lot of JRPGs too, cool thing, where the party members share their thoughts on the events of the story. The DS versions of Dragon Quest 4-6 had something similar, with the Party Talk. Also, the story here with the oppressed people or whatever, reminds me of the Eternians and Inferians of Tales of Eternia. Idk. Lol. I like how you and Kim say things that are not advertised for a game maybe, but are good touches, and those are things really nice to know. As for cooking in games, there's this game called Hexyz Force that also had cooking (and harvest points), was on the PSP, was a little earlier, I guess, than FF15 when it really took off, I feel and it's getting in everything. it was so good, though. I'VE THOUGHT OF ANOTHER RECIPEEHHHH!

As for the owls, there's a bug in the game you can't collect it if you're standing too close. You need to back off a bit and be staring at its face, the examine mark should then appear.

I wish there would be a preview clip on all the available artes in the artes menu so it's easier to figure out which artes chain better with other artes..also wish we could toggle the target lock on/off instead of instant auto lock-on when combat initiates..still it's a great game though..it's on par with Final Fantasy 7 Remake for me..

This game has already got its hooks in me. I have just now gotten to the first rest spot. It is amazing. The story, gameplay, and graphics are all amazing. One of my favorite things is the way the story is told. The variations of cutscenes, movies, in game movies, and story boards is wonderful. I have not played a non final fantasy RPG that I have loved or been excited to play until this one.

4:16 The only issue I truly have with the game involves the comic skits. Don’t get me wrong, they are fantastic! But I’m not a fan of how they’ll start on the left side of the screen and move the to right side, then the next “page” or two reverses it from right to left. Still loving the game though!

I just preordered the highest tier on the Playstation store to minimize my spending. Figured taxes on one lump sum would be a whole hecky of a lot cheaper than taxes on each individual purchase. So far, its a good investment.

I've been a little surprised how optimized the pc version of this game is. I have a 6 year-old Skylake laptop that I've been playing this game on with 16gb of RAM and a desktop gtx 970 going through an Alienware graphics amp. A little bit dated hardware but I'm still able to get a full 60fps at 1080p with the settings pretty much maxed out. With most modern titles I have to make some fairly significant compromises on the visuals but not at all with this game.

this sounds really great! I've never played the Tales series and it's a bit daunting to try to jump in, but I'm tempted to give this a try. You two are super cute!

Hardcore Tales fan here. No need to feel daunted. Aside from the sequels (which are clearly marked with "2" in their titles), the games can generally be played in any order you want. Jump on in! :)

Bought the game because of you recommending it. First time playing the tales series. This game is very okay, I’m at the point where the group finds the star ship and it’s just feeling like a mediocre slog.

I'm about 10 hrs in and love it. I get what you are saying about the music being more epic than the situation calls for, but its really good music so I'm good with it. This is leagues greater than any of the recent entries in the series (thought I love Berseria and its cast).

i am nearing the end of my play through and my only major gripe is the 4 hours of exposition near the end

This sounds amazing... can't wait to have time for it one day! I've tried two Tales games so far but somehow life always got in the way of finishing. The sci-fi aspects interest me - I know Tales and Star Ocean were cousins, but I lament the decline of Star Ocean, and figured the former to hew closed to the fantasy side of things. Would be great if they manage to recapture that Star Ocean feeling!
