That river is quick

Sand is flying everywhere
It's in my eyes
I can't hear over the wind
Is it safe to go or should I hold
Hearts and minds
Desperate for an answer
Or a signal fire to show us where it's safe

Are standing on the edge of something beautiful and terrifying

Crows are circling overhead
Waiting for the scent of death
Like a funeral pyre
Offers itself to burn
