They did it in a ridiculous time, and the record stood for over a century. And of course the media magnate who issued the challenge never paid them their prize. The name of their boat was FOX....hmmmmmmmm.....

Their record STILL stands!! A team of FOUR men beat their time by several days, but to this day, NO TWO MAN CREW have beaten Harbo and Samuelson's record, and even in this modern age, no new two man crew has attempted to try.

Pint & Dale's version is the first rendition of this song that I'd ever heard - and I confess it is still my favorite. I later learned, at the Chicago Maritime Festival, that Jerry Bryant wrote the song. Here is Jerry performing his song: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y9iUpLSp0d6dmH0.html.

Their record will likely never be broken. A sea bright skiff weighs between 300 and 375 pounds. No modern rower would have the balls to attempt it in a similar craft. The modern ocean crossing rowers are much heavier.
