Bought the exact same fan yesterday, works great. Much better than the old 20" box fans I've been using. Really moves a lot of air.

I got this a few weeks ago. A day later the house AC went out. Week to get the parts to fix. This blew 24/7 and made the house bearable. I also use it outside when I am working on the car. Get some air blowing on you, makes car repairs in the sun much less exhausting. It is a shop fan, not a house fan. They are loud because they move a lot of air and are supposed to run constantly. This is well worth $120.

I sleep with a fan. I had a Honeywell tower fan that died after 7 years. I got this because I had a coupon for HF. Is it overkill? Absolutely. Do I still love it and sleep with it on every night? Yes.

Sounds a little loud at high speed. I was wondering if you could comment on the slower speed. How much air flow compared to high speed and to box fan. Also how much noise compared to high speed and box fan. Thanks.

Looks like a decent fan. I was looking at these fans when I was at HF last Sunday, I was going to use the 25% off coupon. I should have bought one, I could use one to help cool off the garage when working out there.

Seems to be the same thing as the more expensive UtiliTech Pro. Curious what the parent company is. Not sure if it's the same parts as the UtiliTech, but looks like it. Very decent high CFM fan. I use this fan after doing monthly carpet cleaning to dry any saturation still left rapidly.

You can buy decent things at Harbor Freight for a decent price. The secret is don't go too cheap. My starter tool box is nothing but Harbor Freight for two reasons. It's cheap and it comes with a lifetime warranty. It's been a year of heavy use as a mechanic and I have yet to return anything. Maybe it's luck or the mantra I followed. Don't go too cheap.

its a cheap chinese motor being thermally protected there is a fuse in the motor once it overheats it blows and the motor is done for unless you can replace the motor with a comparable NEMA 48Y frame motor i would try a US Motors 8905 it runs ok on 115 volts and a steeply pitched fan blade and its 3 speeds and has leads to reverse the motor's rotation. as i installed one of these in a Utilitech fan lowe's marketed fan. along with a new blade by LAU which they are universal blades and have interchangeable hubs in which i had to use a 1/2 hub as its the size of the motor shaft. the motor and blade you have to get online or from your local HVAC center like Johnstone Supply. the US made and comparable have auto reset thermal protectors meaning it will shut off when it overheats when the motor cools it will reset and the motor will run again.

+Derek Obidowski hmm good info man. I do hope this one lasts for a little while. I've been using it a lot lately. It does move a lot of air.
@derekobidowski5784
@derekobidowski5784 7 жыл бұрын
like any made in china fans the thermal fuse its nonreplaceable meaning its throw away. if u need to replace the motor in the future. this will help. as i think the shaft size on these chinese motors is metric. so the original blade won't fit on the shaft of a USA style motor. i replaced motors on fans the smaller ones i use FASCO or US Motors shaded pole or PSC. the larger fans i use what i did recently used a US Motors which is a division or Emerson Electric by Nidec Motor Corp. as Emerson is a big corp. they own closetmaid, Rigid tools, InSinkErator disposers, Copeland compressors the scroll compressors to the Semi-Hermetic refrigeration compressors. and others. If u decide to go with a 3 speed motor of your choice i would get a switch online, like ebay, an approiate motor of your choice if u decide to use a very steeply pitched blade. the fan i fixed a Utilitech i used a steeply pitched blade a LAU brand with a 1/2 hub as they have interchangeable hubs as they are commonly used in refrigeration and HVAC for condenser fans but are good to use in fans. the motor i used to replace the the chinese motor is a US Motors 8905 3 speed 208-230 volts as it runs satisfactorly on 115 volts on all 3 speeds driving that steeply pitched blade which has a 30 degree pitch the motor RPM is 1075. and it required a 15 MFD 370 VAC Run cap as this motor is a PSC Permanent-Split- Capacitor type. if i get one of these fans ill definately put this US Motors 8905 motor in it as the studs of a 48y frame motor fits perfectly in the mounts but the motor will stick out much further. as the shaft is long enough to position the blade correctly.
@derekobidowski5784
@derekobidowski5784 6 жыл бұрын
i red the reviews on the fan some say its a bit underpowered. it looks like its sturdy and you can get away with installing a suitable 48 frame motor i got one china made fan as they replaced the motor and blade the blade has an agressive 33 degree pitch and the motor is a 3/4 hp US MOTORS 8905 208-230 volt motor as it works ok on 120 volts the motor is a 3 speed 1075 RPM in this fan. it depends if you do decide to go with this motor you may need a belly band mount the US MOTORS 8905 motor, and a LAU blade 6055901 CW 33 deg pitch and 4 blades which will move more air. if you decide to go that route with your fan this motor has an automatic reset thermal protector and its reversible as it has the reversing wires on it that allow you to change the rotation of the motor. you can also get a 3 speed switch too. probally on EBAY, the motor and blade you have to get from your local HVAC or refrigeration supply house. as Johnstone supply is one example. when you get a LAU blade you need to get a 1/2 inch hub for it as these LAU blades have interchangeable hubs. as this US Motors 8905 is a bit heavier is why you need to retain the wheels on the fan to move it around

what stinks vs sucks is they breathe the lab rated cfm numbers but never Display FACTS ON Box. Like rate motor hp, amps, watts, rpm.. The actual truth, no BS they load us up with all the time. and a extension on th intake side with 15" roll galv sheet metal to make it another 12" deeper makes it way more powerful. Then like a jet enginge intake, if you make a rounded intake edge with a few Dollars tree 3" foam $2 noodles The velocity actaully improves big time. The wort suction come from a open thin walled pipe vs a vortex former. improves velocity like the leading edge of any wing. Rounded nor sharp.

Those fans suck. l had the Harbor Freight Manager plug it in for me before l made the purchase. He was annoyed that l wanted to test it first. The air flow was pathetic. You must have got one that wasn't defective.
