I’ve been using the 3/8 SeeSii since June. It works for what I need. Getting bolts out after breaking loose, tightening 14mm cap screws before final torque, and breaking loose 50nm torqued bolts. I also have the green 1/2 inch SeeSii. It’s not bad for the price, but does lose to a co-workers Kobalt 1/2 inch. My use case is pulling apart, assembly, and setting up injection molding tools. The 1/2 inch works well for breaking bolts loose up to 240 ft/lbs, but struggles if someone used an air impact and over tightened. The 3/8 inch works great for 10mm and smaller bolts or as a get it started before grabbing the torque wrench. Battery life seems to be very good. I’d be up for testing in a manufacturing environment if the need arises. I’ve been in skilled trades for over 28 years.

Thanks for testing the Seesii. I'd been looking at the Milwaukee 3/8" M12 for awhile since I have other M12 tools, but couldn't find a price I could stomach for a bare tool. I saw another review of sorts on the Seesii, and bought it during the Black Friday sales for cheap. I've been pretty impressed with its capabilities for the price, and it's nice to see that backed up with real world testing. The size is great, even if it is an 18-21v tool.

I wonder if a spring spacer could remedy the hammer skip, and what that would do for the max torque

2953 motor appears to be wound with two wires in parallel. This is often done as a single large strand of wire of equivalent resistance is exponentially harder to wind with. This likely means fewer turns per arm of the stator and likely results in a higher rpm/volt and lower internal resistance. The downside to higher rpm/volt is typically a less efficient motor but higher power density. That said, I know these things as I used to rewind brushless motors for r/c aircraft. I had not really considered rewinding a power tool motor. Looking at the messy factory windings, I'd bet some gains could be made with a hand wound motor.

Yesterday I bought a factory recon Ryobi PCL 250, 3/8" impact wrench for $25.06 including tax from my local Direct Tools Factory Outlet. They mainly sell Ryobi and Ridgid new, recons, and blems. My recon came with a one year warranty. But the store does not take returns for money, just exchanges, so I was a bit nervous. I was a little skeptical of this little unit even though I've seen positive videos and reviews. I bought this little lightweight tool primarily for lug nut removal. I had a stroke in 2020 that left my left hand kind of weak and gimpy so I was hoping this would help. It's supposed to develop 220 ft/lbs of torque. When I got home I took it out of its nondescript box which came only with the tool and a manual. Fine with me. I plugged in a battery. I have 2 batteries and chargers as I use the 18V platform for my string trimmer and blower. I tested the twister on my '06 Silverado lug nuts which I know where tightened to at least 100 lbs as I always check my lug nuts when I arrive home from my local tires shop. In fact I probably tweak them a little higher. The little tool zipped the lug nuts off with minimal hesitation, and I do mean minimal. It was almost instantaneous. Extremely pleased. This tool will accompany me and my family on trips. I know there are not Direct Tools stores everywhere but they do ship.

Nice swap! I still can't believe how little copper they use for these windings, they could fit almost double in there and get better power and efficiency. When will someone rewind one of these buggers 😅

O boy, I'd love to see how the ryobi 12 Ah stacks up against the 4 Ah and the old 9 Ah on more tools. Almost 20% gains on this tool translating over to their high torque or 4.5" angle grinder could make getting one of those big boys a worthwhile purchase if you already have the tools.

Gotta say, I have all the Ryobi stuff you'd use for "home" (we have 4 cars) automotive work, and I couldn't be any happier. For the money I spent vs the actual use I put it through it's an excellent value and more than enough power. For extra umph I have a breaker bar and a pipe, hahaha, but haven't found a need for that in the last few years with the P262 impact.

I’ve got the cheap little Ryobi pistol grip inflator/hand burner if used for longer then a few seconds. It’s literally nothing more then a little brushed motor and a switch connected straight to the battery. Just for kicks, I took 3 fresh off the Charger Ryobi packs and ran them back to back just to listen to the fan speed. Very unscientific I know but the standard 4ah was clearly slower then the 4ah HP(the current model) which was clearly slower then the current 6ah hp. I was really shocked to hear what a difference it made in such a basic tool.

I built a Frankenstein m18 impact that you guys covered a while back, putting a 1/2" anvil in an impact driver. It was a fun, spicy little meatball... right up until it split the anvil in half. But it happily chugged alont for roughly a year of daily use until it gave up fighting the good fight.

I do automotive and own the Hercules 20v impact driver and Gen 2 High Torque 1/2 impact wrench, both with 5a battery. Very content with them. However, their Gen 2 1/2 compact impact wrench is not very strong. It was hit or miss with lug nuts before I returned it. I decided to go with the Dewalt DCF891 (800ft/lb) with 5a Powerstack, as I wanted something close to High Torque numbers in a smaller and lighter unit (Hercules High Torque is of course somewhat heavy). But Hercules HT is very useful for bigger fasteners or trucks. I'm happy with the 3 tools and the range they can cover. The Hercules impact driver is surprisingly strong when used with 1/2 impact sockets and adapters. Because of this, I have not needed to get any 3/8 electric impact

Would love to see the Worx Nitro and Nitro sub compact as a comparison for this list. Love your content!

I wonder if you made a spacer to put behind the spring to increase spring pressure, if that would fix the issue of the increased RPM causing the anvils to skip. It looks like the anvil size is probably tapped out on this one, but it might make it get to max torque quicker, if every revolution was a hit. Also, might make it a little more consistent and less of a handful.

Would love to see a video on some of the lower CFM pneumatic options (Like husky's 4cfm 800 ft-lb impact) which work a bit better than others with a smaller compressor

That compact is my favourite and i have many others it fits the best in the hand, the lights are better than others i must say, using a 2 or 3 amp smaller battery is a must for feel it’s just a quality piece

The Gen1 Herc looks alot like the Bauer 1/2 compact brushless. If they are the same tool, I'm getting that BAUER! Before HF downgrades that one too...

At half the cost of the ryobi, the new Harbor Freight still seems like a good deal. I got one, as I don't need more than 300 lb ft of torque for what I do, and it was the cheapest, readily available option that does that. It's been great so far. Ripped off some stubborn bolts from my old trans-flex-plate, and even got the yoke nut off the pinion (235 ft lb torque spec)

You should do a socket test similar to how you do the wrench testing!

I have a few m12 tools like the impact driver and the little wrench, I definitely want to get the m12 impact gun, I use my impact driver as one but it breaks the little socket adapters alot an I'm sure it's putting wear & tear on the motor lol

For that modded one you dont even need to buy the other tool, can just rewind it. Maybe even play around with different gauges of wire. The wire itself is cheap or even free if you take it out of an old drill in the trash pile.

Have you thought about testing rotsry tools like Dremels before? A bit outside your wheelhouse, possibly, but I thought about this while browsing Home Depot and Amazon for one. There's plenty of examples on Amazon or Wish and some testing might do some good to see how well they can avoid getting bogged down during polishing or cutting.

Ryobi brushless tools tend to perform better with higher battery packs iv notice it with most of my tools even my vacuum 🤨 great market strategy tbh

Just bought the SeeSii 3/8” so far so good. Able to take off 80ft-lbf lug nuts with ease.

Loved the video on seesii wh450 comparison, seems to be the closest budgetwise to a m12 stubby. Absolutly agree on it feeling really nice in hand, best $80 spent on a whim a couple months ago LOL

Such great content. We really need battery quality tests. Not power, but quality. There has to be a way to determine if Ryobi, Skill, Hercules, or SeeSii, batteries are any good? In the past I purchased new Ryobi tools, only to realize that their batteries appeared to function like used cells, with extremely high self discharge, and only a fraction of expected capacity. Surely the SeeSii has very low quality, or perhaps recycled cells in its packs? You guys have the ingenuity to devise some type of battery quality testing! It would be amazing to know if those cheap Skil tools have real batteries?

I’ve been waiting for you to do this new hercules compact gun, it couldn’t even take off a lug nut torqued to 80ft lbs, and on top of that it would shut off after a few seconds of impacting too.

I would've appreciate you completing the testing with the Herc Gen 2. I install garage doors and I kill an impact driver every 6-9 months. That's the Milwaukee Gen 3 and Compact impact. The Gen 4 won't even last a month. I use an impact wrench to install doors as a result. I'm considering switching everything over to Hercules but I don't know if a Herc Gen 2 can keep up with a Milwaukee 2855-20.

Great video. Can you test on the dyno makita xgt angle grinder ? I use ga023 (ga005 should have the same power ) with 180mm concrete cut disc and in my opinion its really powerfull. Would be nice to see it compared with most powerfull grinders.

Speaking of impact mods, I wonder how hard it would be to turn a DCF899 into a DCF900 (torque wise). I'm not sure just how different they are as far as internals. Maybe allot of 899 owners out there that could see some big benefits. I can't seem to find any videos comparing the two. I don't own either one and am looking to purchase one here soon. Which is another reason I'm asking this question because I like the older analog switch but of course I like the new torque numbers from the 900. That being said, atm the 900 seems to be on sale in allot of places for around $280 for the kit. I appreciate all the videos and all the truth being revealed here. I can't thank you enough for all the info.

I have the DeWalt dcf900 for heavy work, the Ryobi hp mid torque for the house working on family or client vehicles, and the Ridgid subcompact wrench for tight spaces where applicable . The first gen Ridgid has been a huge help for me, and I plan to get either the second Gen or the compact Ryobi. Or the right angle wrenches for that reason alone.

I bought the Hercules for the good deal… it seems to be getting better the more I use it, I think they had way to much grease in it from production… takes lug nuts off way better after the 3rd battery charge

For you to consider - how about monitoring battery voltage and current draw during tool runs? Maybe have an adapter made like you did for the battery pack but with coils, taps, gizmos inside to give you voltage and current. Besides a visual display, you could send these signals directly to your data program. If you wanted to get really fancy, you could tap the leads where they attach to the motor to measure internal loses of the switch, electronics and wiring.

It's easy to start selling stuff for a cheap price to attract new custumers but difficult for those brands who have been in business for decades developing the market

I did the kobalt 3\8 anvil swap with the xtr 1\4 after watching this a couple months ago

It looks like Harbor freight changed the specs for their gen 1 on their website again. It says 525 ft. lbs. instead of 555 now. I have this one as 3/8" drive and besides the size and lower power (compared to milkwaukee) the only other issue is the hog ring wears out easily. It's made of some kinda cheap steel with a rubber O-ring behind it. I found a piece of spring still wire and bent it, works better than theirs. I've been using it in the shop for a year now. it's meh, but does most small things.

Looking at various products, one can't help but think some are almost identical beneath the colored plastic. The phrase "probably made in the same factory" is (rightly or wrongly) used a lot in recent months and years. It would be interesting to know what you have learned about drills, drivers, impacts, and flashlights. For example, Milwaukee's parent company makes Hart tools, but I suspect they make others.
