I'm going to skip over part 2 of this set and cut to the chase with this thing. BUY ONE!
My wife and I are blown away at how easy it is to change tires here at the farm now. A little lube and a little muscle and pow! You can swap out a old tire for a new one in less than 10 minutes.
This is another one of those tools that I will spend the rest of my life asking "Why didn't I buy that 20 years ago?".

Huh? While he is one of the few people to use the mount head to mount correctly, he also used it for demounting. While it worked, that’s definitely not correct. Not sure why everyone ITT is saying that he “use[d] the right tools correctly” and “did everything right.” He deserves credit for getting the hard part right but that doesn’t mean the rest was perfect.

WARNING! NOT AS EASY AS THIS GUY MADE IT LOOK. You notice that the tire he put on was very elastic and stretched over the rim no problem. It all matters what type of tire you are trying to mount, if it's new or used, does it have a thick side wall ect.. This is a very well done tutorial and helped me a lot. Just don't beat your self up like I did if the tire doesn't slip on so gracefully as it does in this demonstration. Patience + Faith = Grace. I gave the thumbs up and subscribed. thanks Fairpoint Farms

@@FarpointFarms it looks like the arm is adjustable to accommodate the removal of bigger tires. I am thinking about using it to mount 315 70 17 onto 17 9.5 wide rims. Mounting shouldn't be a problem, correct? Will this be doable when it comes time to remove the tires?

The people I've seen having problems with them usually have not had the the tire changer securely mounted. Having it anchored to the concrete is best. When i was renting I coudn't drill holes in the garage floor so I picked up and old door someone was tossing out and bolted it to that. As long as the platform is solid and large enough for you to stand on so it can't move I haven't had any problem. A generous amount of lube also helps. I've always used dish soap myself. Squirt it out, splash some water on it, run over it with a brush and it cleans off any dirt and provides lubricant.

The H F tire changer worked great. I didn't have a place to mount it to concrete floor. I used a 3" muffler clamp and a 30" piece of unistrut to secure the changer to the 2" receiver on my Jeep. The changer moves around some but lets you use the force needed to do the job.

I'd like to see someone do low profiles on one of these. They are generally the hardest to mount. On a pneumatic machine we make use of some secondary parts of the machine to push or press the tire into position.

Good video, people buy that machine need to watch your teaching here! I have used soap for years to do tire work, also you can buy something called tire mounting soap or lube . Lubeing the bead before you break it down, stepping on the sidewall with your feet will help the Lube work work its way into the bead area for some of the more stubborn tires. The trick is Lube tire before you break the bead , Lube tire before you remove it from the wheel, Lube new tire before installing. use a generous amount of lube.

Old school! Back when you could actually jack up a car by the bumper, I worked at Western Auto after graduating high school and this was all we had. Got to where I could do 4 tires, start to finish, in about an hour. And that included bubble balancing. The owner made a fortune with me as I was being paid $1.25 an hour. Now, my hourly wage increased a bit more since then but the satisfaction of a job well done was never about the money , for me.

Totally needs to be bolted down. I doubt I could have done a single tire if I had to dance with it. I have a part 2 that shows how I bolted it to the garage floor without having studs sticking up, but I didn't think anyone would want to watch it so i skipped it. Maybe I'll put it up next week so you can see how I did it. As for the tire being upside down, dang that must have made it REALLY interesting! There are a few fancy "Reverse mount" rims, but 99.9% of them would be a flat side up. We live and we learn brother, we live and we learn.

I've been toying with the idea to buy this for probably 10 years, but in my mind there's no way that it could brake the bead; when I've worked at wally world TLE and Fire Stone the bead brakers have so much force to brake the beads I didn't think this (I) could do it (at home I've tried braking the bead with a jack under the pickup's bumper and the pickup starts lifting and the opposite side of the tire would lift up. Watching this video, you just sold another HF tire changer; I'm going to HF tomorrow and buying one. BTW if you try, you should be able to get the inner bead on without using the bar by twisting the tire on the rim (that's what I do/did). I've worked with a tech whos half my size and can get both beads on, on a tractor trailer rim (I never could) with no machine or bar always putting me to shame.

Might work okay for light Honda tires but I'd like to see you do some bigger tires. I just tried changing 15 inch light truck tires and broke the tool immediately. It wouldn't break the bead ( I ended up using my log splitter). I bent the bar immediately bent the stand at the bottom and the weld broke on the keeper that goes on top of the rim. Worked at it for a couple hours and still never got the tire off. Seems like it's crap to me. I'm probably going to go return it all been up and everything.

LUBE! I have only done one set of LT tires, but many many many sets of 14,15,16,17 and maybe one set of 19's with this setup and they worked great. The freaking LT tires though have super tough and thick beads and you are correct, they just don't want to break when you try to pop the seal. I stopped offering to do those after that one set of 15 LT's as well, but thankfully the machine made it! I'd say I'm somewhere over 200 tires at this point and it's still hanging in there, but the bar is pretty beat up.

Have you tried this on a cosmetically nice aluminum wheel. It looks like it would to major damage to the rim from the start of laying it on its face to breaker the bead then dragging the bar on the lip of the rim with no plastic protector. Seems only good for wheels your not concerned about scratching or those covered later with hubcaps

Or you could think outside the box and put a cheap rug on the ground when breaking the bead and using some plastic wire loom or something on the bar to not damage it..

2:20...careful with your finger placement. That tire bead can jump back and really give your fingers a good pinch.

Don't know how you did that but I fought with mine for over an hour trying to get one Chevy 14 inch steely unmounted..tried another with only a 2 year old tire same thing...the bead breaker is no good and the bar is no good..today is July 4..it goes back tomorrow..glad I live close to a store..

Did you use soap or lube? I think that is the key to these things.

Watched this video to see if maybe you had some sort of trick to make those damn things work. I got mine because I had to do twelve tires. I had three sets I rims two of which had two different types of tires on. My first tire came off decent (still took a considerable amount of force) but then when I grabbed for a different one shit started to break rapidly. Definitely depends on what wheel and tires you are playing with. Moral of the story when all is said and done this tool works good for car tires okay for larger highway tread truck tires, and piss poor on big chunky offroad tires
