I think what I like about this channel the most is it's still like youtube was before all the corporate backed shills started flooding the site. Your review tells it like it is not trying to sell shit not hyping a product.

Hey Allen when you find your flat spot on the ring simply open your vice to a good width so it centers the flat and tap it with a hammer till it rounds out.

Awesome! Love the octagon grills..and you got serious metalworking skills!I do some metal work but nowhere near up to your level.. I've had a few close calls with those angle grinders - so every once and a while especially just before a job I go to Google and type in "angle grinder accident" and the click "images" as the search type. A quick scan of the resulting gruesome photos really sets my mind straight and gets me ready to go out in the shop and tackle the job! Like you I still got both eyes, my whole nose and all ten fingers so the strategy is working so far..

I have a older Harbor Freight plasma cutter and welder, they work great. The newer stuff I wouldn’t touch. If my welder ever fails I’d buy an American made welder. That welder of yours seems really smooth.

Right on right ouwn! I've been contemplating that little ring roller or saving up for a slip role. BUT THEN I got to thinkin, that pipe roller at HF for $180 (before coupon) looks pretty solid and you can take the tube dies out and put in some flat roller dies! Maybe even with a channel in them for ring rollin flat stock on edge! Hell for less than 200 pesos that would be damn well worth it! Your thoughts? Thanks! great, simple and to the point video.

That handle is excellent, I agree on the round stock-I have a different rolling machine but its the same deal with round stock, mines a bit easier as it rolls horizontal as well so bit easier to keep roundstock in line. Agree again on creeping up the pressure is the way to go, for doing more than one ring I run first ring thru on low pressure, then second etc on same setting, creep up the pressure again for ring one, then run ring two etc thru, if that makes sense, is that how you advise doing it? All the best for the new year.

AS for making rings out of solid rod ,I got a cut off drops from a sign pole company .The drops are from 8 inch pipe , 12 inch pipe ,36 inch pipe ,48 inch pipe and 72 inch pipe . They are only 2 - 6 inches wide .They gave them to me for nothing . They also gave me a cart load of small 1 inch thick blocks drilled the proper size hole in the block weld them to the ring . Lace slick rod or rebar through it and weld . Takes minutes to make the rod ring and are perfect every time. Took two ours to make 8 different size ring makers and each one has 1/8 inch to 1/2 inch size laces need a new size drill holes into some more blocks weld them on .

I think the round stock just has different stresses built up in the material. I hear a tip long ago from machinists that the metal left out in the parking lot hot sun had some stress relieved just from that. Not sure if true.

Wonder if you could power the roller with an impact wrench or a variable speed heavy duty drill. Maybe put a foot operation switch/pedal and have both hands free to hold stock. Thanks for great videos.

I have both this and the larger rollers from HF, this one isn't strong enough to be powered like the other. The bigger model I modified using a kit from Swag Off Road with a pipe threading tool and that even f flexes. Good tool though.

Most welding and tool forums have a couple of sticky threads. Harbor Freight Tools that suck and Harbor Freight tools that don't suck. I have one of these and feel that it falls in the middle, it kinda sucks. Mine is much worse than yours but I'm a hobbiest so time is not money to me and I can still use it. Great for rolling steel pig tails.

First let me say I have never used one. Having said that. If you flipped the stock with each roll would it counteract the twist? Just a thought
@jimzivny1554
@jimzivny1554 6 жыл бұрын
I have one of these for a few years and I've tried to flip it to remove the twist, depending on the steel I've had mixed results. Usually I use a pair of big adjustable wrenches and with a few tweaks it's straight.

Lowe's is OK. tried their carbide tooth metal cutting blade. dam thing only lasted 20 cuts. paid close to 90 bucks for that blade and I was not happy. Lowe's took it back! have been buying all my appliances there for the past 10 yrs. anything on the showroom floor is usually in stock. 5 yr. warranties are a hundred bucks. delivery and removal of old appliance is free. 10 percent discount for military or former military. what is not to love
