Representatives from Hard Rock International unveiled new renderings of The Mirage as a guitar-shaped hotel planned for the Las Vegas Strip.

They want to create a "uniformed" look for all their properties but then whats the point of someone, who lives in Florida and has already been to the Hard rock there, coming to Vegas? Why not create unique and creative properties for each separate location? With gambling being legalized more and more through out the United States and world Vegas needs to differentiate itself from the rest.

That monstrosity they intend to put on the strip in the form of a guitar is hideous and will look ugly AF! The strip is cool right now but that thing they are proposing looks like hell.

Too bad they can’t save the lagoon, and mature palms?!? The Strip needs as many water features as it can get, and the Mirage’s was always so inviting, and calming. I understand they don’t want the volcano……but save the water features?!?

@@zacharyburket55 California takes 68% of Lake Meads water btw. Yes, there’s a water shortage, BUT there are MILLIONS of people enjoying the Strip on a yearly basis (tourists and locals). Walking up and down the Strip, seeing Bellagio’s lake, the Mirage’s lagoon, the Venetian’s canals and large fountain out front, ADD SO MUCH to bearing the 120 degree heat that invades Las Vegas. ……….It’s worth the water, and most of it is recyclable.

@Jesus Arrieta As a local myself (who ACTUALLY likes The Strip), I love the water features by the casinos……and think they’re essential. Eventually they’ll pipe more water here from the Great Lakes / Midwest / wherever. Evaporation happens, sure…..oh well. There are 200 + million Americans outside the southwest taking 30-45 minute showers, and DONT CARE. I’m enjoying my life, not sacrificing hardcore for future (ungrateful) generations down the road.

@@eddieg6436 Vegas has grown by 750k people and cut it's water consumption by 28% since 2002. Not percentage per person, total overall usage. Look elsewhere for your environmental outrage, this city is a model.

I'll never visit the hard rock after they ruin the mirage.. Plenty of other casinos on the strip... Dumbass Hotel shaped like a guitar isn't on the top of my list...

@@alexspendlove98 If they were smart they would renovate it inside and out (it's 32 yrs old), and just keep it as the Mirage (or the Hard Rock's Mirage). Prettiest hotel on the Strip.

@@alexspendlove98 Like where those apartments are that Steve Wynn gave the FU finger to because they wanted such an outrageous amount of money for the property 😆 BTW there was a motel here in LV with the name Mirage that I believe had to be compensated for their name. I wonder if at the time the owners of the motel knew what the name was going to be used for.

I honestly think a guitar shaped hotel that has a light and music show at night is very fitting for the strip. However, I do think it should be built further back from the Strip. One of the things that I love about Mirage, Caesars, and Bellagio is that all 3 have a giant and beautiful "front yard", while the other resorts don't. Also, to pay homage, I think they should keep Mirage's current color scheme and give the guitar gold plated windows with streaks of violet to match the Beetles Love banner. Finally if the volcano must go, reconstruct it over at Wynncore or Mandalay Bay. Both those strip ends need more attention anyway

Why blow up 24K plated gold that already looks fine? Why does the guitar have to be purple, so it looks the same as the one in Florida.! Valid point.

I am surprised that they didn't build the hard Rock hotel years ago it fits in perfectly with the rest of the Vegas strip. Now if only they can keep the volcano; maybe they can put it on top of the hotel. Lol Maybe the Neo museum will acquire it. That would be nice.

Save the Maroge it’s one of the best, and I really started the new Vegas along with the Excalibar Steve W hope you come in last minute and swoop it up and keep the greatness you created .

HardRock is so 19th century, do we really need to revise this crap? I am also bitter because MGM buys up all these properties then they destroy what was once classic Las Vegas then sells them off, now the HardRock is going to finish it off!

This looks very cheesy. It's kinda weird that the guitar is so close to the street. Do you check in from there? Can you enter from the sidewalk? Very strange. Its so stuck in the past. Kind of ruins the strip tbh.

@@chrysler238 It doesn't fit because the majority of the casinos on the strip are out-dated. Bellagio has a failed condo project thats been sitting under worn out facade for 14 years. Bally's is hideous. Park MGM is recycled and boring. Resort world is architectural plagiarism. Excalibur is a 80's theme park trash bin. The Rio should have been imploded years ago. Luxor is a mold farm. How's fountainbleu going?

Vegas moves so fast. I have so many great memories of The Mirage from just the last 5 years. I like Hard Rock Casinos. The one in Atlantic City is amazing, but seeing this guitar monstrosity makes me sad.

Hard Rock has a possibility of failing the moment they takeover the Mirage! They’ve failed before and MGM is gonna regret selling the property if they’re doing well again. Steve Wynn and Siegfried and Roy would most definitely not approve that change. It’s a waste of hard work to take the whole vibe away!

When the original wtc was built, it was called an eyesore. When the eiffel tower was built, it was called an eyesore. They are only seen as "beautiful" now because they grew on their cities over time as they became normal. Yall gonna be praising this in 100 years, just wait.

Hard rock is literally a cheap brand hotel in my mind and is on the level of hooters. A giant guitar is tacky as hell. The mirage is a Vegas icon.

@@alexspendlove98 Exactly what made mirage different was the atmosphere, But what makes Hard Rock different from Aria, Cosmopolitan, Resorts World, Vdara etc. any other boring modern glass structure. With the modern design everywhere.

These comments from the Hard Rock haters crack me up. The strip is aging so quickly its embarrassing. The guitar tower in Ft. Lauderdale is incredible, the light show is super futuristic and lights up the night sky. I'm sure the one for Vegas will be even better. The strip needs more concepts like this, not a volcano from 1989.
