I was so inspired by phrases from Stephen Foster's haunting American folk tune, "Hard Times Come Again No More" that I lifted them and wove them around a series of vignettes in a contrasting key. I try to often to convince Time, with her long hair and rushing waves, to relent and give us back our beloveds. But she rightly refuses. And so we grieve together and go on, sometimes much stronger for it, sometimes not.
