After seeing inside Betty's fuel tank it would be beneficial to flush the rad in and out plus the block and maybe a new water pump for her Christmas present 🎁

Flushing anything can cause even more problems. Rads can have pin holes in them you flush it then you open the holes then you lose antifreeze over heat warp heads then everything is destroyed

@@benoliver619 Huuum, strange advice. If a rad has pin holes blocked by sludge and crap, it's a time bomb, always happening at the worst time. Ask me how I know... The best thing is remove it and have a competent shop have look at it. If it's original, time to replace it ! And yes, flush the whole system. It's 50 years old. That's basic maintenance man !!

There are some guys in this industry that can walk up to a potental job site, speak to the owner, and by the time they return to start construction they already have a picture in their mind what the finished product will look like, Chris is no doubt one of those men. I have really enjoyed all the vids associated with this pond build. The best part about Chris's ability to invision what this project will look like, is the picture in his mind is usually above and beyond what the owner could invision Thanks Chris for taking the time to video your work and to the Gentlemen giving you permission to video on his property. You may need to pull the radiator out and have it completely flushed at a radiator shop. There could be some blockage in it since it sat for a while. It’s sort of like us when we get old and idle we seem to clog up. I guess that’s why I had quadruple bypass last year, I’m Old like Betty, but still kicking.

I really think the greatest tribute you give an artisan is to admire and study their work and to try and transpose some of the artistry and discipline in to one’s own life to make what a person does in their profession to be admired by others. Just so happens Chris your paint brush ( heavy equipment) weighs in a multiple tons for the most part, and your canvas is acres of dirt. But there are more lessons being taught here than moving dirt, I appreciate and study what you do, how you do it, and your long term thinking. Thank you for the videos

@TripleMEquipmentServices2 жыл бұрын
You can do it time and material with a rough estimate given to the customer and updates along the way. You can estimate the whole project so the customer has an idea what the entire thing will cost with various clauses in the bid to account for unexpected conditions. It's a lot to estimate but if you break each step down into it's own "project" and work through each part on it's own it makes its it much easier to put a number on for the complete thing. You're replying on experience (both good and bad) to know what will be involved in each step and how long it should take you but there's still plenty of risk involved. You learn when you estimate a project and it goes well, you learn really fast when you estimate a project wrong and it costs you money, especially if you had a gut feeling about it and ignored it hoping you'd somehow get lucky or things would be different this time.

Hi Chris, just been watching you spread the top soil out with Betsy. As an old timer a small word of advice with the 3 in 1 bucket. When you are nearing the end of the push, just lift up the front of the bucket and allow the dozer part of the bucket to push and spread the soil forward. You will get a much more smoother flatter spread. The way you are doing it now produces a bumpy finish because you can't raise the bucket and tip it out accurately enough to get a smooth finish. Love your videos keep up the good work. Keith

You need to put a 30 pound pressure gauge in the block and see what the coolant pressure is while its running. all the cats I have needed 18 to 25psi to cool. That will tell you if your water pump is going bad. Also use a temp gun to see what the temp is at the thermostat housing and the lower radiator outlet. that will tell you if you have a plugger radiator of thermostat sticking.
