As I've commented on another video, anyone who thinks customers don't act like this has never been in retail and has lived a very sheltered existence. Where I worked we might need hundreds of hours of filming to get a really good freak out, in Detroit I bet it happens more.

This was a great interview. A lot of questions were answered for me. I always wondered how they informed customers they could be on tv. But I do think that the fact you could be on tv does make some people more rowdy and more ridiculous. If I was anywhere near Detroit i'd definitely stop by.

Your comment made my otherwise somber evening very bright! Thank you! I just recently lost a best friend of 22 years from a brain aneurism. Meanwhile, I've sparked a slew of negative comments from another video because of my one I left and to see yours on THIS video really came through for me and made it all better! As far as HCP? It's addicting but, yeah, it HAS to be scripted and fake! LOL I agree with ya on that, brother! :-)

Pawn Stars and Hardcore Pawn can't be compared. It's not fair to judge one against the other. Pawn Stars is more scripted and geared towards the item and it's history--hence being a History Channel show. Hardcore Pawn is about the people and the stories, hence being on TruTV. If I had a Pawn Shop TV show of my own I'd try to focus on the selling aspect, because that's how the stores make their money. It's just two separate approaches to the pawn business

Those who find him difficul to work with r just too young....its HIS business- HIS pocket - just have to understand the dynamics and see things Les`way. he mentions his wife when i started watching the show, i wondered about the wife...then i saw some old repeats and saw her. now she makes uncredited cameos, i saw her (I think) when the woman brought in a white snake among other things...

Just like almost every bank and Insurance companie is, right? No one is forced to sell anything to a pawn shop! Sell your stuff on Ebay, make a better price and save your speech for them banks and insurance companies and the like!

Obviously a lot of the customers are from a poor neighborhood. Its not only about buying and selling. The staff has to be able to handle people having drug problems psysical problems etc etc. How about employing a scrink ?. joke. Anyway Mr Les. U and your staff are performing an incredible job.

In the credits at the end of Operation REPO, Cheaters and in Hardcore Pawn it clearly says that all scenes were re-enacted and some were based on true stories. The Pawn Stars shop even closes a whole month when they do the filming for the show. How the hell can he keep a straight face and tell people that it's reality and real? If I go with my camera and film 1 year there - you wouldn't find all the crazy people that this show makes you want to believe happen in 1 day every week for the last 8 years!

being that the shop is in America's largest DYING city there are a lot of desperate folks in Detroit ..the auto industry has died a long slow death and there are pitiful few jobs in Detroit....look on Google Street around most of Detroit ...half of the houses have been torn down...its an amazing phenominon

This was a fake interview! @ 0:57-0:58, Lee Hawkins's fingers start to disappear, then are completely cut off! The interview was done by way of split screen! Les Gold was interviewed prior by someone else and then later incorporated into the scene where Lee Hawkins has a line of questions to ask him! There was a reason why it was done this way! I just haven't enough characters to explain it!

Honestly, I can't really stand any of them but especially Ashley. I would be embarrassed to have kids who act the way Seth and Ashley do and they have no regard for anyone else. The only reason that Ashley talks so much shit is because, there's so many security guards to protect her. If there's no security, she wouldn't open that mouth like she does.
