The first thing I noticed about this reel is its weight kzfaq.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I wouldn't say it was uncomfortable but it was a little heavier than other similarly sized reels. However, that didn't deter my enjoyment of how smooth this reel is. I spooled it with 20lb. Tuf-Line XP and it's perfect for what I use it for. I have it paired with an 8'6" Medium/Fast Okuma SST Salmon/Steelhead rod. The combination is perfect for casting and even drifting. I used the reel all day and didn't experience any arm or hand fatigue except when fighting a few fish! The bail is solid and feels strong when engaging by reeling and manually closing the bail by hand. The large rubber handle grip is very comfortable. It's got a powerful drag, silky smooth reeling, and feels very comfortable in the hands. I recommend it!

My idea for a lure... the Yellow Submarine! Hear me out: A yellow (submarine shaped) top-water lure, with a propeller on the back and a big'ol lip on the front. Reel it slow and it's a good buzz-bait, reel it fast and the lip makes it dive (like a submarine). Bonus points if it's got a noisy group of Beatles inside (rattle trap also?!?!).

When I was was a kid that dense wood was used for intermediate prop shaft bearings in commercial fishing boats. It is verry oily and hard so was long lasting in the wet environment of the bilge. It tended to be self lubricating and didn't rot or corrode. It also would not score the shafting like a babit bearing mite if you forgot to grease it. Dan R

Hi, I am 75 years old now and have loved fishing all my life. Nowadays I fish almost exclusively with lures. I have even made or modified quite a few lures of my own for specific fish and conditions. When I was a teenager I used to buy cheap lure parts from Herter's in Waseca, Minn. build the lures and sell them. As a 12 year old Snook fisherman in Tampa, with no money I learned what could be done with broom handle plugs and cheap nail polish as paint. I also learned how to make Jigs out of a hook, split shot and aluminum foil. I just discovered your channel. I enjoyed the very first video so much that I subscribed right away. You have gifts to create and build plus you are a terrific comedic presenter with perfect timing and on camera skills. I live North of Syracuse, NY however my favorite fishing is for Snook on Florida's lower East Coast. Around my home area I enjoy Trout fishing plus Walleye "hunting" plus Crappie and Bass. All are released (except for legal sized Snook) for their sake and mine... I hate cleaning fish. Anyway, please keep doing your stuff. You are awesome! Darryl

When you talked about your dog being silly it reminded me of my female German Shepherd. When she was young, if she didn't like what you did, like washing the garage and close her on the corridor (my corridor had a door in the middle) she would just run in circles and bite her tail until it bled and spilling blood all over the walls. Despite that she was the friendliest and lovely dog I have ever seen! Good with my friends, family, loved to play and interact. She didn't really like people laying on her body and the day a friend of mine got sick and did that, the dog didn't care, as if it knew she wasn't good. Her behavior got all better after a couple of years. Loved baths, she was a really easy dog to take care of. Then her oncologist when she needed to treat cancer at age of 11 told that she also had a German Shepherd who looked like my dog, she almost cried and wanted to take a picture with her, which my dog just loved. But the oncologist was talking about her dog, who survived this accident, but ate a light bulb, which brought up a lot of headaches during the period. German Shepherds seem to be so unique in personality, it's amazing. I love them and I love my dog forever. RIP Lila, you were the best girl.

I too am buying a house and can’t wait! I’ve rented for 8 years after the last recession and now I’m not sure if I’m moron(like Chip) or not, but I’m buying a house in the current recession. Good luck with everything. Glad we got to see ole Shroomy (Chip).

After binge watching almost all of your videos, I’m almost sure that you normally talk to yourself, but by having a KZfaq channel, you seem more sane😂

You inspired me to start making my own lures. I started with just inline spinners for trout, now I'm starting to shape my own lures. I'm really digging lipless crankbaits and thinking about making my own. Thank you!!!

A tip I use for sanding: I save old belt sander belts the cut them in half. I then spray glue and wrap them around different diameter dowels at an angle and they makes it super easy to sand any surface.

A trick for gluing oily woods -- wipe the surfaces to be glued with acetone or some other solvent to remove the oils on those surfaces, and slightly deeper. It's an old boat building trick used with teak, among other woods.
