Violet Robert I am so glad to read your comment.At the moment I am reading "Things Fall Apart" by Chinua Achebe which is about Igbo traditional culture.I must admit I found it a hard book to get into at first.But I recommend it to anyone interested in Nigeria & its past.I agree Chimamanda is truly amazing I could listen to her all day.

talk2me9ja You sound deeply troubled by Adiche's success and grace, I'm sure she would apologise if she wasn't too busy not giving a fuck about you or your opinion. She is as much a Nigerian as Fela Kuti, Cyprian Ekwensi and Chinua Achebe. Leave your tribalism in the past where it belongs.

Never let your oppressors choose your role models. Never expect a prize from your oppressors. Be wary of ones among you that are anointed by your oppressors. Chimamanda is not the best of African writers that should be getting attention from the WEST. You should ask yourself, why Chimamanda. Same reason they will kill people like Thomas Sankara, Same reason they will choose to promote Chimamanda. I have listen to most of Stephen Sackur Hard Talk and if u understand the concept u will know its never an easy ride with the guest.. but this.. this interview with Adichie just made me respect Chimamanda the more... i have always wanted to see him interview her- unlike some, she's got something upstairs and she speaks without fear.. i am currently reading "There Was a Country" by Achebe and i don't see any reason why we shouldn't talk about our history.. anyone who truly loves Nigeria will talk about what happen to us as a country.. by so doing we can know how to make better decision both now and in the future.. instead of sweeping things under the carpet.. Feminist of no feminist, this lady definitely drives a sense of hunger for knowledge in our present youth.. Bravo woman.. i ll probably name my first Daughter Chichi.. :)

I am enamoured by her sense of balance which she maintained throughout the interview, about how being Igbo and being Nigerian are not competing identities, even if sometimes one may prevail over the other, and how she defended herself being at the same time a harsh critic and a passionate defender of Nigeria, irrespective of where she resides. A magnificent interview that will not be forgotten in a long time to come. Nigerians are indeed some of the world's best and we await our true liberation from the curse of failed political leadership.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, is a woman that I love to describe as "paragon of virtue" as she is a model to reckon with in a competitive world where gender is no longer a hindrance to excellence. Though this conversation was quite long in the tooth; however, it's evergreen as she defended her ideas in a meek way and spoke in a meticulous manner without flaws... that Chimamanda for you. She is just phenomenal...

Chimamanda Ngozi is the real epitome responsible human being. It pleasant to me when she said she sees herself as Nigerian, then Igbo. This epitome of true nationalist. My best wishes to u now and always.
@sinanprof7264

Note: seeing herself as a Nigerian doesn't make her a nationalist. We have to always take note of the difference between nationalist and patriot. Africanist is also nationalism in a wider range. I doubt if she ever identify herself as a nationalist .

Don't just listen to Ngozi Chimamada, pay attention to the culture that made and raised her in Nigeria is a dying breed that needs the World's support to survive under Biafra Nation. Pay attention to GENOCIDE in Biafra, the spirited Americanesque High Flying Eagle ethnic group tied by the Wings to the Lead Winged Turkeys of Nigeria as they weep, fight and breath for freedom from oppression and Genocide. If USA ignores what's going on against Biafrans, USA has no moral value to call itself the citadel of Democracy and freedom. The Republican spirit that has endured in Biafra Land way before the American founding fathers reigned is being ignore in Nigeria today by USA because that's the way Britain wants it. You don't want them immigrating into your land, help them survive in the own land, simple and short a solution.

talk2me9ja what are talking about? That Igbo's didn't kill twince? Is it because Marry Slessor was a missionary in Calabar who documented mist of She saw there? Its a shame we even take glory in such an animalistic, barbaric culture. For your information my friend, the killing of twines was everywhere through the southeastern culture of Nigeria. The area known as south-south and south east today was called Calabar.
