Жыл бұрын@RobertEFuller is a wildlife artist and has been observing a family of hares. When one baby leveret goes missing, the hare mom does everything in her power to protect the remaining baby. The hare fights off a stoat and owl to save her baby leveret.

I think it must come from french (or a latin root at least) as we call the adults lièvre and the babies lévrauts in french. Also the french word for the hound breeds of dog like greyhound, afghan hound, etc, is lévrier in fench, from the same root, as they were used to hunt lièvres/hares.

So sad that one of the leveret babies was lost. I am amazed to see the mother feed once a day religiously, and then clean her babe too. I can't imagine it staying hidden all the long day until she comes again every night, what a good little tyke! So much I still don't know about things, even at 66... I will be looking at more of Robert E. Fuller's work, what an amazing artist :)...

Hares are such incredibly metal animals, where they will square up to predators thrice their size (and often win). Leverets are able to move around the minute they’re born, and adults just have that wild and powerful look in their eyes.
