Even better it wasn't a slaughter but mutually assured destruction. The Imperium soldier killed the Daemons and prevented them from accessing information they should not have. The Emperor would be pleased and that's all that matters in the end.

Yeah, that's exactly the same, actually.. (Edit) I was inherently wrong. Harlequin, whose reason for not warning the imperium, is just because they thought it was funny, is not just a jerk. But a demented jerk. The mysterious guy is just maintaining stealth. He doesn't find terror funny. So, by default, the only jerk in this situation is the laughing Harlequin.

It would have been a little nicer if they'd gone to planetary governor or someone and said "oh yes there's a demonic incursion we're going to need you to deal with in a thousand years make sure you're ready". Of course the Imperial forces would probably ignore the warning because they've never trusted Eldar even when they should, but at least they'd give them a fair warning of the price of their aid.

Actually, the entire planet probably would've been fine. Well, that's actually quite fair. Like, it's technically still wrong but if even a few of the planets population survived then the Imperium would likely spare some guard regiments to reinforce it, certainly more than the Eldar can, and the demons were defeated. So it's possible that in the over all balance of things an army of daemons centuries later is preferable to the incursion of nightlords waging brutal terror based moral warfare then.

@@ellis7622 Webway portals tend to be fixed. A warp jump is straight from A to B. A webway trip would involve going from A to S, then S to F, then F to C, then C to B. However, the webway would be much safer, with demons, mostly, not a factor, and it would be much, much faster, since time dilation would not be a thing. But, you don’t get to choose where the webway gate opens up to, that was decided at the time of its original construction by the Old Ones and later, the Elder.

I can't entirely respect that, I can respect that the Imperium is better equipped to fight the attrition heavy battles against Khornate demons than the Eldar of the black library are. I can't respect it because as best as I can tell it would have cost them nothing to leave a note to be passed down from one planetary governor to the next for the ten or so generations between the two events.

They actively fight chaos and don't try to conquer. That said, the black library is one of the most valuable places in existence. They sent the demons elsewhere to save it, not out of malice. It's not a good act, but it's a logical one. Also, eldar logic and eldar comedians.

Yeah, I'm convinced the Harlequins are not entirely in perspective as it were. Everything's a play or performance to them which means they probably didn't warn anyone because they thought it was either more thematically appropriate to drop literal demons from space hell on people without warning or because they thought it a good punchline. Which is pretty shitty as a reason to do that to someone but are first and foremost religious zealots devoted to the styles and whims of a particularly melodramatic god.

I feel like if harlequins just appear out of nowhere and aid you in combat then disappear with no explanation it could either make you very happy and grateful or leave you in utter distraught as to what they have planned for you in the future…. their like “Hey we helped you! thank us, we saved your life right? now you OWE US. so here, you can have this army of demons to fight for us in the near future! don’t worry their make short work of you. but hey atleast now you’ll live til then. *proceeds to fumble around with dead enemies bodies and placing them in s3x positions*”
