The metric is how they perform against the top 8 French clubs and Ireland Lite otherwise it's just a self-contained cripple fight that will always have the spectre of being a second rate competition no matter the quality of flair on offer.

Esterhauizen is playing the best footy of his life, and even making Smith look world class. Possibly player of the season, but to get into the Springbok team ahead of possibly the best centre pairing in world rugby ever, the potential to be the best pair to ever play the game, in Lukhanyo Am and Damian De Allende, they match so well its going to be hard for him. But he is absolute quality, he seems to finally be peaking and filling his potential

If he can keep getting better, then one day. Perhaps if Tuilagi finally retires from international rugby and the manu-slade center partnership fails, so we have to move back to the sturdy 12 and lightning 13. But Smith, Dombrant, Northmore and Marchant, and possibly even Murley or Lynagh in a few years would be out of this world for england in both skill and chemistry

@@trogwillow3805 As a neutral in this game, I'm glad they didn't blow that up because these "jackal" laws are becoming a bit of a joke. Having said that though, he was pretty much played off the ball by the opposition and was using his hands (and every trick known to man) on the ground to keep the ball on his side of the ruck. Probably should have been a penalty for that.

@@Karma-qt4ji Completely agree! It's such a lotto and yet games are decided on it. It's so difficult to spot the subtle things that would make it illegal/legal in real time. When the ruck forms, hand on floor, etc. Can often be the complete opposite of something not called / called minutes earlier. It'll never happen, but the only way to properly clean it up is say no hands at all. Drive over only, but then you'd need both teams to actually drive up not down, no croc rolls either.

Why are refs still reward9ng going off feet in the ruck? Simmons penalised for 'playing the 9' when the ruck was actually over cause every player in the ruck bar Simmons (2 Quins) was on the floor. (I know it was just advantage and didn't affect the game in this instance but point still stands, this happens all the time)

Just started watching Prem rugby as my new TV deal included BTSport. Glad I didn’t pay separately for it - games so far consist of lumbering forwards feeding slow, unimaginative backs , with poor skill levels. On the plus side, the referees seem less reliant on the TMO which means less interruptions and shorter games. Also, hats off to Dombrandt, knocked on over the line and instead of claiming a try told the referee there was no need to review it - well played that man ( why do Ingerlund not pick him, way ahead of RollyPolly from what I have seen ?)
