Harleston - Then (?) and Now (2017)

I collected a bunch of old photos from the 'Waveney Valley... way back when' facebook page ( groups/waveneyvalley/) and went out to work out where they were taken from, and take them again on Sunday 26th Feb 2017.
I thought that this would help put some of the historic photos from the group into perspective; the hours spent putting this video together definitely did that for me, and hopefully will for anyone else watching it.

Wonderful that Harleston railway station has survived. It's a magnificent building and would have been a great shame had it been demolished. A surprisingly high number (7/14) of old stations still exist from the Waveney valley line: 01 - Beccles - Exists - Still in use 02 - Geldeston - Exists. 03 - Ellingham - Exists 04 - Ditchingham - Gone 05 - Bungay - Gone 06 - Earsham - Exists 07 - Homersfield - Gone (Goods/engine shed still there though) 08 - Wortwell - Gone 09 - Redenhall - Gone 10 - Harleston - Exists 11 - Starston- Exists 12 - Pulham St Mary - Gone 13 - Pulham Market - Exists 14 - Tivetshall - Gone

I left Starston in 1988 and the 2017 photos look exactly the same as when I left. Just a few name changes on the shop windows.

After they have completed the current works in town that would make a very interesting new video

That was excellent and for some reason quite moving I found. Really well done, the way you peel back time between each shot is superb.

1:15 is a photograph predating the war memorial but the same skewwif trees are to be seen in the garden next to the bakery. Fascinating and thanks for uploading 0_o
