Didn't think I would be making a video like this anytime soon. Recently, guys, Harley Davidson invited me out to LA for the press launch of their Sportster S model that features the new Revolution Max T engine. I've never given the company a fair shake so it was finally time to get my butt on a Harley and see what this new direction they are taking the company is all about!

Its reassuring that HD is finally recognizing that the video bloggers have real marketing impact probably over and above celebrities and the magazines. Watching you all with the FTR and Chief launches seemed to set Indian apart and now to see HD get the message that they need to leverage relationships with you is positive. Great to see the collaboration between other vloggers as well. I hope that continues. The bike, it is the meanest looking HD they have produced in a long time.

Great vid! It was very informative too. I made the leap a year ago from hyper naked Japanese bikes to an American cruiser (bagger even) a year ago and love it. I do miss agility of the smaller bikes at times, but I’ve been able to carve corners in my cruiser too.
@daxdak
@daxdak 2 жыл бұрын
I bought one, I love it. Coming from a 2011 R6 that I've been riding for 9 years. Lots of twisty roads in upstate NY and the sportsterS leans and goes into corners confidently/as aggressively as you want it to(no man handling). For me its also not uncomfortable at all after an hour of riding. I'm 5"8 155lbs. My only complaints thus far is the size of the gas tank. Sport mode is just savage and has an unapologetic amount of "hold my beer" torque that will put big smiles on your face but its also thirsty mode. The other complaint is the suspension. Hitting moderate bumps at 60mph if you are unaware they are coming can lead to a... gentle yet firm colon punch. It's great sport "cruiser" and I recommend that you test one yourself and be pleasantly surprised if you're having doubts.
@Baleur
@Baleur 2 жыл бұрын
Thats the first Harley ive ever seen in my life that i would actually consider beautiful, and consider buying. I say this as an EU guy obsessed with Japanese sportbikes. Finally Harley-Davidson has realized that you dont have to give up on your roots, just because you add ADDITIONAL styles of bikes to your arsenal. If kawasaki can make planes and boats, why cant Harley make sports bikes? They have been SO stubborn the past decades, nice to see them move on from those days.

On one hand, it would be nice to hear thoughts from someone with a lot of Harley experience but, in this case, with your little Harley experience it was actually a benefit. OC - Chase, I’m a big fan of the channel and I ride a Harley Davidson Road Glide special. I love all bikes but the big bagger fits me best. It can be challenging in heavy traffic (especially when the temps get north of 90 degrees) but I love to ride so I deal with it. If you are ever in the Austin TX area, I’d be honored to have you ride my motorcycle and give your impressions. Keep up the hard work and ride “safe”.

Never watched your stuff, but just wanted to say thanks, great video. I'm a cruiser guy, always have been (currently ride a '16 olive gold 48,) and this bike looks absolutely wild to me. I'm going to be dropping a deposit on a crimson red one soon.

Nice review Chase. I like the Pan American much more, but I am glad Harley modernized the Sportster. I will simply say that no one from Atlanta can criticize any other city’s traffic.😂

Most of early times I spend riding around Southern Cal. This video brought back memories. I miss being able to filter in traffic.... Rode supersports pretty much all my life, except recently where I had an adventure bike as a daily commuter (a 390 adventure) and just replaced my supersport for a naked/street fighter style bike. (a Street Triple). NEVER been ona cruiser, though.

OC, been thinking of getting a cruiser to compliment the Monster. This would be at the top of the list to try.

I had a Kawasaki Ninja for 5 years, I have never considered a Hardly-Ableson before. This one is changing my mind quickly. I saw one in Ogden UT and I had to know what was up! Angeles Crest is an experience I'm glad I got when I lived in CA. But UT has roads like this aplenty, with the views, the curves and better asphalt.

This euro bloke living in England is unbelievably excited about this bike. I mean I've been looking at the Triumph Bonnie range and BMW RnineT range for my next bike and HD go and drop something like this. Stunning. Give me that midnight crimson with mid controls to rip up some British B roads. Also mate you need to ride in N. Ireland or the North West of England. Dude you'll wet yourself with excitement on our roads.

OC: just got my first bike actually, Triumph Bonneville! Technically a cruiser, with mids and a similar body position. Watching you on the harley reminds me of my bike: "wow, the mids are great! Oh, it's sporty! Oh, that's where the peg was! Oh, my back just died on that bump!" Loved the review, great video and thank you!! Also, California Boi here: we call them canyons because of the steep drop. You're on the side of the mountain, in the canyon.

Been waiting for this video! I ride a Vulcan S, so unlike a lot of cruiser bois the style of the Sportster S isn’t a turn off for me. This bike seems like a logical upgrade from the Vulcan, which has a 650 parallel twin, no ride modes, no cruise control, etc. I just have to come to terms with the fact that it costs double what my Vulcan ran me.

@@rubensahak9178 I’ve only been riding for a year so the Vulcan was a good bike to start on. I’m not bored with it though. Not sure if you’ve ever ridden one, but they’re quick and handle really well. At least for a noob like myself. I imagine I will want more power eventually, but I smoke my Harley bros and have fun riding it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

OC: love this video, like all the others. I've left a few comments here and on IG pushing for Beau to have a cruiser first ride series. I myself am a cruiser Boi rocking a Victory Highball. I loved the BTV with a victory. That cracked me up.

Looks like Harley are finally dialing it in, very smart move flying many of the the good/respected/known MotoVloggers out there for advertising. I have a Low Rider S but this bike will appeal to a generation of new riders I feel.

So glad Harley brought Chase on this - it is important to see how a sport bike rider feels about this new breed of sportster and he didn't disappoint. If you want to ride a "traditional" harley. Go find an evolution Sportster and do a feeling comparison with the S!

@@KSMotoCafe I'm a rider so I'm looking at riding content often and I was getting the thoughts of some riders that have road the sporster s because I'm getting a second bike I didn't mean anything against you personally I just really don't care what a sports bike rider thinks about Harleys lol nothing more than that I'm sure you're a fine human being. I've been riding Harleys all my life they're amazing bikes kind of that old saying if I have to explain it you wouldn't understand Laidlaw says that in a few of his vids I guess we love Harleys and really don't care what outsiders think. @@streetglideyp2375 ah got it. Thanks for taking the time to explain - definitely paints a different picture. I also do bike reviews (mainly harley's) but from a point of view as a new rider. And I did get a chance to ride the Sportster S and absolutely loved the thrill it comes with. My favourite HD is still the Fat Bob 114 because I just love the look and handling of that bike - I tried the Dyna Fat Bob but I enjoyed the M8 FB way more. Anyways brother, cheers!

@@KSMotoCafe good choice I love the fat bob I like them all lol that's my problem the new the new low rider st is interesting just because it has the fairing lol I suppose the 117 also. I do pay attention to interesting things happening with other brands just not interested in buying anything else only so much time to ride and havn't got enough money to experiment.

As a fellow east cost rider, cali spoiled me last year on my mt10. Was truely a humbling experience but I honestly haven't found too many roads here that evoke that feeling in coastal va, MD, and nc.
