It's a typical trait for chow chows :) They have dark blue almost black tongues. Some other larger mastiff/moloss breeds can get that too, but rather only part of their tongue is blue or has blue spots. Some of our newfoundland pups have had it :)

Omg I love harley. I had a big pom (he was thirty pounds) and he looks like a little chow, and when I saw you holding Harley like a baby, I got tears in my eyes. We lost Cubby about four months ago to prostate cancer (he was fixed but it got him anyway) I miss him so much, but it make me feel better to see others enjoying there beautiful pets, and I hope you get to have him around for a really long time. He's so beautiful!!
