10:38 Make absolutely sure that, if you do, those two springs are counter-wound, meaning each is wound in the opposite direction of the other. When you look at them from the side while they are nested inside each other, the windings should appear to criss-cross each other. If you don't do this, the springs will catch and bind on each other and misfire. Or worse, misfire from binding on each other, then slip past each other and fire moments later while you try to open the action. Watch out and be safe, folks.

@Guzman3605 Жыл бұрын
@@OrangeBananaMongoose it was great man. Had a little trouble with my trigger, the part that holds the firing pin seemed like it needs more sanding since it’s a little hard to pull back. Not gonna lie I was a bit scared to shoot it but worked like a charm. I didn’t file the screw for the firing pin at first but it still fires but it seems like the screw does hit it how it’s suppose to but I’m still gonna file it down how you did. I’ve tried some regular 22LR rounds in it and I can honestly say it’s pretty loud. I really like using the 22LR sub sonic made by Águila ammo in it. They’re rated for like 460fps but the harlot shoots then flawlessly.

@@Guzman3605 awesome! Possibly sanding the hammer rails (what holds the firing pin) would help with the hammer from being sticky; I don’t need to for most of my builds but you can use a sort of gun lube or even graphite powder on where the rails ride on the frame; that will make it smooth. Very interesting that it works with no modifications done to the firing pin! I wouldn’t have ever guessed that would work; Also I love shooting those aguila colibris! Great plinking round, You should check out the super colibri they shoot a tad faster and a lil louder

Would like to point out that if you used an actual reamer it would not walk in the lathe like that and it does seem like your spindle speed is a little high for the material and drill size other than that looks great! Let me know if you would like me to link to a reamer of the right size they are about 25-30 usd

Yes this is true, I was using a #1 drill bit (most people can’t get .22 reamers) and it wasnt locked down all the way; so it was wobbly for the video; mistake I made almost a year ago while I was still learning how to use a lathe, but Thankyou for pointing it out! I noticed that there are several models with small differences from the harlot derringer, how do you know which one is the most "updated" or the best "performance" if we can say so?
@OrangeBananaMongoose26 күн бұрын
@@sandlerrs the harlot is the first of the derringer designs from BLC, A little less than a year ago or so they released a new version with an updated lock mechanism and a few other things you can change. It’s called the “Harlet” with an E, As for the one with the best performance it’s really subjective. Go ahead and download the harlet mega pack and check out their infographic with all the different versions and what parts are compatible.

I can tell my barrel has rifiling inside and that is the side marked with a sharpie. do I ream that side or the side thats not rifled?
@OrangeBananaMongoose8 ай бұрын
Depending on where you got your barrel liner, All of the barrel should be rifled; unless it came pre chambered, you can tell if your barrel is pre chambered by plunking a .22 bullet into the side where it would fit; if not then you’ll need to chamber whichever side you want
@norgeboriorealtor8 ай бұрын
@@OrangeBananaMongoosethanks man! I appreciate it. Looks like mine came pre chambered. I appreciate you clarifying! It’s crazy to me that the print doesn’t fit the barrel perfectly and you need to drill it out. Is there a reason why it couldn’t just be adjusted to print the perfect size?
@OrangeBananaMongoose8 ай бұрын
@@norgeboriorealtor of course no worries! The creator of the harlot used a different sized barrel for his original design; so that’s why the hole is smaller than your brownells 7.9 OD liner. I’m pretty sure you can find a file online that uses a proper 7.9 OD hole so you don’t have to worry about drilling; also in some programs you can remix the file so the hole is the proper size for what you need. Let me know if you need more help or help finding the new file if you don’t want to drill out your barrel assembly. It’s an added step of complexity that the creator should have fixed off the bat. I think with the new harlet release (not the harlot) they have included different sized barrel files so you can use the smaller 7.9 OD brownells liner or the 9.2 Chazzel liner; just let me know!

Use a mill or drill press to mill a flat side/slot or a recessed hole, or file a flat slide on the side of the barrel like halfway erc. Then drill a hole on the side of the barrel housing, and use a set/grub screw to lock it into place.

The springs that come in the parts kits from places like parts-dispensed are always too weak, I would recommend going to you’re local hardware store and taking your hammer and harlot spacer with you; then finding a spring that can fit; go to 6:40 in the video and you will see what I’m talking about; if the spring you find from the hardware store is too long you can cut it down to the correct size.
