Interesting how this idea compares to modal interchange using sounds from non-diatonic scales.. like playing melodic minor on a minor iv chord instead of playing Dorian. Maybe that’s level 5?

When you mentioned chord scales for minor7 why not aeolian? I suppose I understand why maj7 would be Lydian and not Ionian.

That’s not how the game is played. Harmony dictates which melodic choices sound consonant

Not really following how you're deciding to pick which mode to pull from. Is the idea that as long as the scale has a "C" in it (in your example) that it's fair game to borrow chords (as long as it's not a dominant chord)?

the idea is that you can pull these chords from parallel modes and then analyze them in the key. this was you have a way to explain certain progressions to yourself that otherwise would appear to be modulations
