Hi Deiter, Our units detect the incoming chords and create harmony from a combination of that and your lead vocal note, so there's no need to adjust anything when playing a 1/2 step down. The unit will simply "hear" an Eb instead of an E, for example. Everything will work just the same as it would with standard tuning.

Hi Nicky, Yep. The caveat is that the mix of the particular track will determine how well the chord tracking works. The better the unit can "hear" clear chords (root+3rd+5th etc.) the better it will work.

Hi Tom. great instr. video. Question; Can you use the pedal without a guitar for vocalists who don't play?
@tchelicon11 жыл бұрын
Hi John, the guitar signal passes through the Harmony Singer on the way to the amp. We look at the incoming dry/clean chord information to work out the harmonies and the signal moves right along to your guitar pedals/amp.

Great presentation Tom. I have a question though. I love the products, I have both the mic mechanic 2 and the vocal harmony 2. My question is can they be used in tandem? Would I just jump from mic out to mic in from unit to unit? I know VH2 uses guitar to control harmony and the Mic mechanic doesn’t. So if you could suggest how I might use both pedals in a chain? Thanks so much! Tony T.

Can I use the harmony singer 2 to double track my voice, I know it can do harmonies obviously but is the option available to just double track?
@tchelicon11 жыл бұрын
Hi Dexter, You can definitely use a wireless mic. Typically, the mic receiver will have an xlr output, which you could run into the Harmony Singer's XLR input. Just watch the gain staging. You'll need to make sure that the signal coming from your receiver doesn't overload the H. Singer's input. You want to see green/yellow LED almost all the time when you sing, but never red.
@tchelicon11 жыл бұрын
Heya Michael, You could do either. It's up to you to tune the guitar itself, so the placement of the tuner only matters if the pedal before it would somehow affect the sound. Harmony Singer doesn't change the guitar sound, so the tuner will "hear" it the same in either setup.

Is having a line out to a pa a must to have the pedal work? Or can you use it just by going through your amp? Or even by having an XLR to 1/4 inch jack cable to a separate amp?

Hi David, I'd think of the H. Singer as an even smaller and simpler G-XT. The sounds are both of the same quality, but there's presets and some other options in the G-XT that the harmony singer doesn't have. It's more intended to chuck down on the floor and get a great harmony whenever you want it, with minimal setup.

Help ! ... I turned on my T/C Helicon Harmony Singer (Blue Box) and the vocal part doesn't work anymore. The guitar plays through it fine but dead silence on the vocal. The only thing I know wrong is the little mike button on the right is gone, but it fell apart months ago and I'm pretty sure it has worked ok without it (I could be wrong). Inside the T/C where the 'button housing' box is/was, there are only the 6 terminals sticking up. So I have a couple questions; (1) Do I need the mike button for the TC Harmony Singer to work? ... and if so, ... (2) can I jumper across a couple of the 6 terminals to permanently lock it in the 'non-mike' mode ? (I don't even have the controlable mike) ... and if so, ... (3) which terminals do I jumper? Many thanks in advance

I have used a Harmony Singer for sometime now with great success. However as of late I get a lot of static. I have traced the problem to the Harmonizer. I used the ground lift but to no avail. Can the instrument in and out connections be cleaned with DeoxIT ? DeoxIT improves electronic connections. I have used DeoxIT on my mixer when it made static and the problem cleared up. I know that this an old video, but how do you run the TC Helicon Harmony Singer 2 throughab Electric guitar amp like you are doing? Will I need to run it through a mixer?Thank you.
@kiskadar698 ай бұрын
A mixer is not required. Step 1: Connect the guitar output to the "INST IN" input of the TC-Helicon Harmony 2. Step 2: connect the TC-Helicon Harmony 2 "INST THRU" output to the input of the first guitar effect pedal (if you don't have a guitar effect pedal, connect it to the input of the guitar amplifier). The INST THRU is a buffered bypass and doesn't affect the guitar signal in any way.

Hi, i am considering between this one and TC Helicon Voice Tone Harmony-G XT. Can you give me some advices? Which should I use? Which is better?
@tchelicon8 жыл бұрын
Harmony G-XT has a few more options than Harmony Singer, like the ability to have presets (up to 10) and some extra effects like doubling. Harmony singer is smaller and more straightforward. I think if I were to have a standalone device I'd go for the Harmony G-XT (or perhaps a Play Acoustic or Play Electric for more effects options) and if I was trying to fit a harmony processor into my guitar effects setup (pedalboard etc.) then I'd probably opt for the Harmony Singer, since it can squeeze into smaller spaces.

Hi Hallam, You could run the audio from your keyboard through the Harmony Singer as long as it's got good chordal information in it. If your keyboard has the ability to send 1/2 of the keyboard out one output (I'm thinking left hand for chords) then that would be ideal.

Tom, on the Harmony singer do I have to plug in a guitar? I'm looking for a Harmonizer that I can use strictly for Vocals I don't want to have to plug in a guitar, I play bass, I just want to go straight from my PA to the Harmony Singer and then to my mic Is that possible with the Harmony Singer or do I need to look for something different...thanks
@tchelicon7 жыл бұрын
Yes, the harmony key/scale is driven from the guitar signal that's coming in. If you want to set key/scale manually (naturalplay won't work with bass) you might look to something like an H1 or VoiceLive Play. Another option is to run the guitar from another player in your band in/thru the Harmony singer as the first thing in their signal chain. That will give you the chord info you need too.
@tchelicon11 жыл бұрын
When you play a minor chord, the unit analyzes both the chord and the note you're singing to determine the appropriate harmony. That's not to say it works in every sing song every written, but it's pretty great at doing its thing.
@benjiswafford19268 жыл бұрын
I fingerpick a lot - will this pedal be able to determine the proper harmony for the songs that involve only finger-picked chord progressions? Thanks!
@tchelicon8 жыл бұрын
+Benji Swafford It's definitely more susceptible to errors when you're finger picking. Essentially it needs to hear root third and fifth type stuff fairly close together to make a good guess at the underlying chord. Might be worth grabbing one from a place you can easily return it and give it a go yourself, since it's such an individual experience to see if it works as you hope it might.

@tchelicon7 жыл бұрын
Yes you have to run out the guitar output. Harmony Singer does not apply any tone or FX to the guitar signal itself, nor does it out your guitar signal via the XLR output. If you don't come out the output and run to the PA, your guitar will not be heard. :)
@MrEnobass5 жыл бұрын
Great pedal. I was wondering is it useful when you hook it up with the bass guitar since the bass guitar does not play chords as electric guitar? Because, If you play Am and you want to hear third-up - and you play bass only with the tone A - how can pedal recognize is it sharp or not? thanks
@tchelicon5 жыл бұрын
Hey Eno! The bass won't work to trigger harmonies for the exact reason you just provided! Without a third tone, the pedal won't know to go sharp or natural, etc. For this reason we recommend using Harmony singer with a guitar instead :) Thanks for singing with us!

@tchelicon10 жыл бұрын
Hi J Allan, the guitar path is simply a thru. There's no electrical connection between the guitar and the vocal effects. The guitar sounds comes from the guitar, through the H.S. and then on to whatever guitar rig you have, including distortions or whatever. That's what Tom's doing. It comes out of the H.S.s and into a few TC-E pedals before hitting the amp you see miked int he background.

1) Does the Harmony Singer queue off the actual guitar notes in the 3rd and 5th positions, or does it queue off the chord FORM? 2) I know it can read the difference between a third and a minor third, but can it read the difference in a 5th and a diminished 5th, or an augmented 5th ?
@tchelicon9 жыл бұрын
AngelAndTheWolf Heya! 1. It looks at the root+3rd+5th and then any other notes it can to determine the chord. Using alternate chord forms does affect what the system does with the harmonies. Sometimes, using an inversion will get you the harmony output you want if the other version of the chord isn't working for you. 2. It can tell the difference between the chords and the out put will vary based on the lead note you're singing and the chord it sees, plus the voice output you've selected. That said, in something like Harmony Singer, you're limited to the guitar detection, whereas in something like VoiceLive 3 you can do custom scale maps for the times when guitar detection isn't giving you the output you want.

Hey Jessica! You do have to plug your guitar in through the pedal, yes. There is a 1/4 inch inupt and output on the sides of the stompbox, and the mic in/out is on the back. The Pedal needs your guitar plugged in so that it can generate harmonies based on the chords you are playing! If your acoustic does not have an amplification system already, a simple pickup will definitely do the trick! Here's a link to more details about the Harmony singer in case you have any more questions:www.tc-helicon.com/Categories/Tchelicon/Vocal/Stompboxes/HARMONY-SINGER-2/p/P0CDA#googtrans(en|en) Thanks for singing with us :)

Hi rain, you'd put it first in the guitar pedal chain. It's a buffered bypass and won't affect your guitar tone. You need to have the clean guitar chords feeding the detector in order for he harmonies to work properly. The mic goes into the Harmony Singer, then out to the PA. You might find this video helpful for "gain staging" the two devices. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p9dgdLKlxsytmqc.html

Can i plug this into my guitar players guitar unit and have the other end connected to my mic for the unit to generate harmony ? In case i decide not to connect it to a guitar unit at all, then can it generate an intelligent harmony purely based on my voice ?

+Nik Uzi You're right that we need some sort of chord information for the harmonies to work. You can totally plug this into your guitar player's rig. What you'd want to do is have your guitar player go into and thru this unit FIRST and then on to their rig. The Harmony Singer then captures dry guitar chords to set key/scale for the harmony. The reason you put it first in the chain for your guitarist is because you want the cleanest chords for the unit to hear. The in/thru is just a buffered bypass, so it won't affect the tone going into the guitar effects/amp.

+TC-Helicon Thanks a lot TC. I wish to purchase this unit in the UAE and try it out but your dealers here don't seem to have a unit to try out.

Es tremendo, a mi me gusta cantar a dúo o trió, pero cuando hay personas que no siguen la secuencia eso crea un poco de😣 pero con este intrumento es fenomenal me encanta,gracias.

Thanx Tom.Great pedal, great demo (and great singer by the way !). I bought a HS and I'll receive it in the next few days.One question about the outputs : you say the output XLR is to be connected to a PA.But i want to make the HS sound thru my guitar amp,with my guitar .I've a amp & effects modeller connected to my amp (Line6 Pod hd Pro) for the guitar.There's an mic XLR input on the Pod. Can I plug the HS into it ? I ask this because I've read the output on the HS is a " XLR line output" and i wondered what the word "line" was meaning ( something to do with "line level" ?)I suppose I can but i'd like to have your advice.Thanx for your answer.Greatings from Paris.

+Selkirk Rex Yep, you can connect the HS to the mic input on the POD. Your vocals won't sound super great through a non-FRFR guitar amp, since it'll have a fairly non-vocal friendly EQ, but it's certainly possible with the connections you have.

So, what's the difference between this one and the GXT-They are both about the same price? Can I use a keyboard on that one as well?

+Linda and James Harmony G-XT has presets that you can recall, whereas the Harmony Singer uses single settings for the harmony/reverb. You'd change them manually to get a new sound rather than pressing the preset button on G-XT. The quality of voices and reverb etc. are the same in both units. Keyboards (audio not MIDI) can be attached to the guitar input on either product. As long as the unit can clearly hear chords, it'll track them for key/scale. Harmony G-XT is capable of taking the guitar (or keyboard if that's what you plug in) sounds and sending them out the XLR outputs to the PA. Harmony Singer is simply a pass-through to grab the chords and you'd still need to send the guitar/keys somewhere for amplification. It can't be mixed into the XLR out.
