what an amazing woman!! I can't even imagine the strength Harriet Jacobs must've needed to get through all that suffering. I'm glad we get to read her story! Wonderful work from Dr. Yellin.

Sadly, also reminds of worldwide domestic abuse towards women. Thanks for sharing the horrific accounts of slavery.

I LOVED this book. It is the most cherished book in my library. Did you take it to Tyler Perry? Obama and his wife are working on projects with NetFlix. I felt like I was really there while reading that book. It would make a great movie.

slavery cannot be exaggerated..does it make it any less inhumane if one feels that a particular incident that occurred is not believable???? That's as bad as one saying" I'd rather be a slave than be free!!!!!" SMFH

I don't think so, I think it was likely toned down.

Meera Khan..I'M, TOTALLY AGREEING WITH YOU!!.THEN, AND NOW THINGS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN TONED DOWN ESPECIALLY FOR WOMEN, OF COURSE NOT AS BADLY AS IT WAS IN SLAVERY!!.SENIOR WOMEN IN 2017, IS BLATANTLY IGNORED, I'VE EXPERIENCED IT FIRST HAND.
