Harrowing & Seeding a Field After Corn

The corn is now harvested and fermenting in our silage bunks. We mulched the harvest residues and spread some slurry on the field. Now we take the power harrow and cultivate the top layer of the field and then we sow a mixture of perennial grasses with our old fertilizer spreader. For better germination, we roll the seeds down with a power harrow's back roller.

Farmer's POV (Point of View) is a channel where I share videos of different chores that are going on on our small family farm in Slovenia. We have 60 heads of cattle, mainly simmetal breed and we milk about 35 of them. We farm in a fairly hilly area so our equipment is relatively small. Currently we own 4 tractors: Fiat DT55-56, New Holland TN70DA, Deutz Fahr Agroplus 85 and John Deere 5085M. We work around 20 hectares of mainly grass fields and about 2,5 hectares for silage corn. We also have 7 hectares of forest.

Hello Jasper , you did a wonderful job of describing what your doing and how and why by writing it down. Good job well done. I still trying to hold my stomach when you go up and down hills in the fields still gets me . Your starting to get more people interested know . Beautiful scenery and clear blue skies looks like a hot day .

You can buy a terradisc to do the first jod. It is better and easier

There is a long narrow structure with a narrow roof on the left side of the road when you're going back to the first field. What is that? I'm always amazed at the efficient way you go about doing your work. Great video❤

It was used back in the day for drying and storing hay which was hung over the wooden beams, its called "kozolec". Thank you 🙂

Nice 👍 yeah we tried mulching for the first time and it helps with harvest residue, enough to be worth going through the field I think 🙂 we will plant our other field again which is around 0.7 ha larger. Thank you very much 🙂

How long will you keep the grass there before the corn will return? It seems to stay a little warmer and dryer than usual. Does that mean you keep the young stock out longer? Thanks for the great vlog.

At least one year 🤔 yeah autumns are pretty nice lately so we keep our stock out until around November 15th.

Guten Tag ich komme aus österreich und, hätte eine Frage weiß aber nicht ob sie auch deutsch sprechen.habe einen JD 5e mit den gleichen Seite stabilierunsstreben wie kann man die auf cat2 spreizmaß fix einstellen,. Danke
