Harry Belafonte is a legend who has been performing since the 50's-60's. One of the most successful Jamaican-American pop stars ever, who popularized the Caribbean calypso musical style. A lot of his songs tell stories. He has a lot of hits such as "Matilda", "Mama Look a Boo Boo", "Water Boy", "There's a Hole in My Bucket", "Hava Nagila", "Jamaica Farewell" etc. He was also a great actor who starred in many films.

It was used in the movie Beetlejuice. But it was famous many years before that. You should search for Harry Belafonte with Danny Kaye.

Love your reaction. Harry was in "We Are The World" video, standing up in the back alongside Dan Akroyd ( The Blues Brothers and Ghost Buster movies). After many long hours of rehearsing and putting the video together, when everyone was tired and wanting to go home, Smokey Robinson and Am Jarreau started singing Day-O. They made up verses as they went along. It was in tribute to Harry. Its on a video that you can watch. Harry also performed Day-O on Sesame Street along with The Muppets. A video of that is very entertaining. Harry Belafonte was also a huge civil rights activist who passed away not long ago in his 90's. He is a legend.

Rest in peace, Mr. Harry Belafonte he was a legend and you cannot go wrong with any of the songs that he put out. He was also a good actor and he loved this planet. There are so many songs you could check out he did a cover of Mr. Bojangles. He also sang a song called Scarlet ribbons for her hair, a fun song that he did is jump down spin around and another fun song of his is jump in the line. I wish that I had been around when he performed live at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Unfortunately there’s no recordings or should I say no visual recordings that I have been able to find of his concert but the album is really funand I highly recommend the album as a little kid back in the 70s and 80s. I always enjoyed listening to Harry Belafonte and John Denver above all other artists the most.

Day-O is probably his most famous song, but Jamaica Farewell is a close 2nd. My favorite of his is Yellow Bird, a little melancholy, but lovely just the same. Glad to see such a wide range of genres on your channel. A+! 😊

He wasn't talking about foot, or length, but hands. Hands of bananas, is how they grow, have to be cut off the stalk before selling them. An 8 hand bunch is very heavy to carry. If handled badly the fruit is spoiled and can't be sold. It's hard work, working on a banana farm.
