In August of 2022 Dave, My Wife and I visited Connellsville PA to visit Wilmer from the youtube channel Indian Head Valley RR. He took us around the area and shown us a great many things, but when he took us to the Connellsville Canteen to show us Harry Clark's layout, I was amazed.. I had seen this layout in model railroad magazine. but had forgotten about it all those years ago. The back story and history of Mr Clark is wonderful. I hope you enjoy this video. and please stop by the below channels and give them a like and a sub.

Thank you for the video. I just noticed it on my suggestion list. I am Harry's youngest son. I grew up watching my Dad put all of it together. He'd be stunned to see all of the videos of the railroad on youtube. I'd like to thank both Bill Sechler and Carver McGaughey for their continued dedication there with the ICV.

Oh Very very welcome Greg, my video doesn't do it justice. You definitely should be proud of your father's work. So very happy you had people like Bill and Carver to help keep his legacy alive. Can't thank carver and Bill for letting wilmer show me the layout on the day I was there. You definitely have something there to be proud of. Appreciate you watching and for this great comment... Mr. Clark your father is an inspiration to me. I have a question. In Model Railroader Magazine video I heard the roundhouse was damaged by a visitor and your dad had to rebuild it. He said he wanted to choke the person who did it.😂 (I don’t blame him) How did the visitor go about damaging it? Thank you

I'm happy to make the suggestion t would show more of the layout. And I'd feel like I'm riding on your Dad's railroad.I'm going to set mine up as soon as I can but right now I live in a Camper Trailer with my Sister and there is no room here to do so I'm going to try to make room and if I do I'll post my Layout on you tube .I hope you will watch it.

I was fortunate to visit Harry’ place several times in my teens. He and his friend George P. from Maryland used to put on quite a good show. Harry was quite the modeler. In the lower level of his layout building/garage, he had a fully scale scratch built display of the full sawmill operations at Cass WV. It was very impressive as well.

As to the model l can only say that it genuinely looks like the railway has been bulit in an existing landscape. Very nice presentation. It was awesome. It's good to see this preserved. We had a beautiful o gauge layout of city of Nashville and somehow during the move fromone building to a newer structure. It didn't fit in to the new theme. They dumbed down the museum where they basically turned it into a indoor glorified jungle gym. The layout has been lost to history even though some of the structures were save at the Tennessee Central RR Museum.

It is so nice that his layout did not die with him. These railroads represents a huge amount of money never mind the amount of time and labor invested in them. They are an asset to the house that they are in like the same way a swimming pool is. If you were a model railroader and you can buy a beautiful house and get a beautiful layout for free that would be the icing on the cake. Some companies that sell modular layouts like Dunham studios will take the old one apart and sell it for the widow so she can get some money out of it and someone else can get a beautiful museum-quality layout at a bargain price. I even saw a advertisement for a real estate service that specializes in selling houses that have a model railroad that is not movable. I also saw an advertisement for a nursing home exclusively for model railroaders. It was in Ohio so it's like who cares if it's snow 9 months of the year when you're inside the building running a layout anyway.

Thank you very much Jerry, appreciate thr kind words. The trestles were impressive as was the turn table but yes all of it is amazing. I'll have read some articles again, I know I read it somewhere on how long he worked on this layout. Definitely would have been a great interview. Thanks for watching glad you enjoyed it.

Interesting ! I see that there is a plug system for the tracks. I’m familiar with Dynatrol, so is that what he was using, or some system that he invented?

What a huge layout. All that detail. So awesome. Just wow😮! I do have one question, how do they reach a train that derails in the back of the layout. Are there hollow mountains??? Removable scenery?? Thanks for sharing Pappy!

Thanks Eric so very glad you enjoyed it. It's hard to tell but they can walk behind the layout. It looks like it's up against the wall but there's a gap and there was an access panel in the one spot in the center. And I went underneath to see the wirering below the control panel. So they might access the hole from there. Again always appreciate you watching my friend.

How do you move a layout like that without damaging it?

It's was and awesome thing, I seen pictures they moved the entire section of the house, if you look at the part of the video in the beginning where I showed underneith you can see the house chimney that had to take with it. Incredible. Thanks for watching Heath, glad you enjoyed it.

What happens if a train derails way in the back

🤣🤣🤣 I asked that same question. They have a few trap doors and walkways back there, so it was well thought out. Appreciate you watching

You might do better with your video by fixing the camera on one look at a time instead of "fire hosing".

Hello James, that would be a cool thing to see, although I was mearly just a visitor. If I'm ever that way again, that would be something I would ask if they could alow that to happen. I'm happy you enjoyed the video and appreciate you watching
