➡️ Please be forewarned. Richard Harris who played Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter films passed away very shortly after finishing Chamber of Secrets. The new Dumbledore from now on in the next Harry Potter movies was played by Michael Gambon. Sadly, Michael Gambon also passed away just only a few months ago this past September. May those two wonderful, incredible and talented actors rest in peace. 🖤🕯🧙‍♂️🧙‍♂️🕯🖤

The reason why Harry doesn't trust adults is because of his upbringing: his aunt and uncle abused him, ruined his confidence, and the teachers at his primary school never cared about the obvious signs of abuse. Even worse, they never sided with him when he did speak up. It's never broached in the films, but the books expand a bit more on it.

I'm not gonna lie....when I first saw the basilisk in this movie, I had the same reaction Ron had with Aragog. (I'm by NO means fearful of snakes, for transparency). Also, every time I hear Hermione say "She's a little sensitive" to describe Moaning Myrtle, I always have the same first thought: A LITTLE sensitive?" Also, the whole interaction between Jason Issacs (Lucius Malfoy) and a THEN 12-year-old Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) in Professor Dumbledore's office was completely improvised. Lucius: Well....let us hope that Mr. Potter will always be around to save the day. Harry: Don't worry.....I will be. Jason stated that he felt a chill rush down his spine with Daniel's bravado back then.

An amazing 2nd chapter in this series. To me there is a definite theme of the power of books and the written word. Books have the power to preserve memories, influence the minds of others, and give illumination. They also have the power to lie. As Gilderoy Lockhart (what a great name and a great character!) says, "Books can be deceiving." Jordan Peterson points out that the final scene is a modern recreation of St. George and the Dragon. The giant snake/dragon (that ancient serpent, the devil) is killed by the hero wielding the Sword of Truth (Eph. 6 and "Sleeping Beauty"!) because the Truth has the power to cut through anything. Thanks for a fun reaction and Happy New Year!

I agree with you. This gets right into it without the introductions and expositions of the first movie. Then there’s Gilderoy Lockhart, who’s both funny and diabolical at the same time. One thing you probably noticed by now, at Hogwarts there are no “safe spaces” that are so ubiquitous at modern colleges. Getting through Hogwarts is a challenge to survival! I enjoyed this movie immensely. Great video! There was a pop song in the 70s called “Spiders and Snakes.” Maybe an inspiration? 🤣🤣. Seeing your reaction to spiders and snakes is priceless! Great video! Looking forward to the next one! Thanks!

They sent them into the Dark Forest as punishment in their first year ... after saying that it is off limits. It is a bit "writing whatever is currently needed for the plot/DRAMA". Flying on brooms and bashing two balls - which WANT to hit players - into the general direction of the opposing teams is also not really "safe" for children who only just learned to ride a broom.

Not only that but in the first book/movie when the Trio told Hagrid that Snape was after the Sorcerer’s Stone he told them to stop meddling. When they told McGonnagal the Stone was going to be stolen she ignored what they were saying & told them to go back to their dorms. Why would they confide in the teachers at Hogwarts after that?

Once you've watched them all, it's easier to decide on the one you like less than the others, and maybe a favorite one, but to rank the remaining six is to me an impossible chore - each has certain unique strengths over the others. My junior high students got me hooked on the books 20years ago or so and then the first movie shocked with a perfect cast and amazing imagery and each next one (both books and films) built and reinforced itself on the awesomeness of the previous. Rowling did an amazing job, dipping into real life sources of esoterics and "alchemy". I was pleasantly surprised that Nicholas Flammel had been a real alchemist who had claimed to have done the most advanced work on philosopher's stone. The books and films only increase in generosity of impressions when you dig into the lore and cross-reference names of characters, spells, substances, as well as use of magic. I think RC church protests the book not because it has magic in it and exposes kids to it, but because the treatment is so well-grounded (though often camouflaged) in serious esoteric (and occult) works. And because I admire the amounts of work Rowling had done, it's the more difficult for me to make choices of preference. I can just say that Harris over Gambone, Go Neville, Luna rules, and Harry is the most irritating of protagonists I've ever rooted for.

I like your reactions to this and other films. After you're done watching the Harry Potter movies, the novels are much better. There is much more depth to the characters, plus some characters the movies don't have the time to include (like Peeves, you'll not see him in the movies [and don't worry, he's a minor character, so I didn't spoil anything]). If there's anything you see in the movies and go "huh?", the books will probably resolve your confusion.

😎👍 It's easy to keep track of the main character's ages as the films progress. In the first one they were 11, in this one they're 12 and in the next one, they are finally teenagers, and look noticeably more mature than they do in the first two movies. By the fifth entry in the franchise, Ginny is as tall as Hermione, and Neville is nearly as tall as Hagrid. Your essentially watching them all go from the 6th to the 12th grade. The one constant is that each successive movie introduces a new "Defense Against The Dark Arts" teacher who always becomes one of the central characters of the story.

They get better as you watch IMO. Granted, the school layout doesn't match from one movie to another, but they are still well worth watching. The films also get darker and more mature as the kids age into their characters. Malfoy also has more screen time and definitely grows into his role more, so your desire to see him evolve does happen.

I've always thought despite new directors and darker tone, the fact that Hogwarts remains mostly the same (at least in looks) through out all the movies was pretty cool. Off the top of my head I can't really think of much that changed too drastically with the layout. Mostly areas we just hadn't seen yet somehow. I think maybe the spot the Whomping Willow is in changed a bit, but for the most part anything else is pretty forgivable and minor.

Hagrid's hut also changed location, to be down a hill. They went with that location for the Hogwarts: Legacy game too, (as a prequel) however. Also, I think some new bits like the stilt bridge got added to the castle, and a few other spots.@@mattschliemann9683
@Eagle3302PL

@@mattschliemann9683 The general layout and external look of the castle changes drastically from movie 2 to movie 3, then further movies tweak the movie 3 layout over time. Movies 6, 7 and 8 change the layout quite a lot again. As for it looking so consistent stylistically it's because the same locations were used for filming, and the sets had to match the style of the on location filming. E.g the grand hall where they eat is a real place somewhere near Eton in England I think.

I have a fond memory of seeing this one as a kid in the movie theater…My mom got startled while holding a big bag of popcorn during that scene a few minutes in where Harry is grabbed by that disembodied hand in the creepy store…She tossed the bag and popcorn flew everywhere. 😂 Then later on when Ron gets grabbed by the spider she threw the bag again (though it was almost empty at that point). I still enjoy this movie as an adult; little Rupert (the actor who plays Ron) really shines in this one. Fun fact that Daniel Radcliffe improvised the line “Don’t worry, I will be” in response to “let us hope Harry will always be around to save the day.” I still enjoy this movie as an adult; especially since I’m around the same age as the child actors so that nostalgia feels great.

The thing about the Harry Potter books is that the author, JK Rowling originally wrote the series for adults. It was the book publishers that decided to advertise it as children's books. If you read between the lines of the story you will see it is a satire. First, one has to understand that you the reader are looking at the story through Harry Potter's point of view as he grows up throughout the years at Hogwarts. In the first book and movie Harry is 11 years old so you see his world from his 11 year old mindset and maturity. But as he grows up and begins to understand things more and more the story gets darker and less innocent as he matures with age. The reason I call the books a satire is that many of the stories deals with racism of a different kind and political corruption. Dobby might be a house elf but nevertheless he is a slave just the same. There might not be any racism in the wizarding world against people of color but there is racism against wizards who do not come from pure magical families. And there is massive discrimination against sentient magical species like goblins, centaurs and house elves to name a few out of many. Harry doesn't see the horrible similarities between the wizarding world and the muggle world at this point because he is only 12 years old during The Chamber of Secrets. To a certain extent he is still an innocent little boy and is not mature enough to comprehend it all to the fullest extent. 🏰🧙‍♂️🧙🏻‍♀️🧒🪄⚡️📚📽🎞🖤

You can't blame the Womping Willow Tree for getting upset and attacking Harry, Ron and the flying car. If a massive football line backer suddenly rammed right into you and refused to get off, you too would be bashing his head and fighting to get his freaking large body off of yours. That poor tree was just minding his own business and wham! Big massive hunk of metal missiled into it's body from nowhere and just stayed there. If someone did that to me I too would wack the living heck out of whatever hit me. LOL! Plus I also don't blame the Cornish pixies. They were captured against their will and then crammed into a small cage. Of course they are getting revenge. It's not that much different from what happened to Harry when the Dursleys caged him up at the beginning of the movie. LOL! 🌳🚙🧚‍♂️🥊🪄😉😄 It's all kind of sort of the theme of this movie. A caged Hedwig, a caged Harry, a caged Dobby, a caged magical car, caged Cornish Pixies and a caged basilisk. All go absolutely wild when finally set free. 🦉🧑🧝🚙🧚‍♂️🐍🤪✊️😄😁

You can see how the movies get a bit more sophisticated as they go on. In the first one, the "lesson" is that it's not always easy to tell who's good and who's evil. In the second one, the lesson is that even if someone isn't "evil", they still might not be competent. There are some flaws in the movies as adaptations from the books. One obvious one is that Ron is depicted as kind of dumb, and mostly just as comic relief. But in the books, he's highly knowledgeable about the wizarding world. Of the main trio, Ron is the only one raised in the wizarding culture, and knows all the ins and outs. Hermione is muggle-born, and knew nothing of the wizarding world until she got her letter inviting her to Hogwarts. Harry's parents were wizards, but he was raised by muggles. The director admitted that Hermione is his favorite character, and deliberately took away some of Ron's lines and moments in the book, and gave them to her. OK, you're allowed to have a favorite character, but don't change the characters around just because you like one of them more than another. For example, how would Hermione know what the term "mudblood" means, if she was raised in the muggle world? When would she ever have heard the term before?

From the next one onwards the series really takes off! 😊 The second movie is imho easily the weakest one and had most of the important and honestly the best scenes from book 2 left out for no good reason. The following movies cut out a lot more (especially Hermione's personal arc and everything with Ginny has been almost completely cut out), but those books are over double the size of book 1 and 2, so it is more understandable with those Personally book 6 is my favourite, but I think I liked 3 and 5 more as movies. "It is not our abilities that show what we truly are. It is our choices." Fun Fact: Shirley Henderson is the oldest actress (age thirty-seven) to portray a Hogwarts student. What Script Fact: Tom Felton forgot his line when Draco saw Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) disguised as Goyle (Josh Herdman), so "I didn't know you could read." was improvised. Final Bow Fact: The final Harry Potter film to feature Richard Harris as Hogwarts Headmaster Professor Albus Dumbledore. Harris died of Hodgkin's disease a few weeks before this movie's American release. Slytherin Shenanigans Fact: It was Jason Isaacs' idea for Lucius Malfoy to have long, blond hair, as well as carry a walking stick inside of which he would conceal his wand. He grew attached to the stick and once tried to take it off the set before he was caught. RIP Millie Fact: During production, Emma Watson frequently brought her pet hamster Millie on set. Unfortunately, Millie passed away shortly after shooting began. The set department created a specially-made hamster coffin, complete with velvet lining and the name "Millie" engraved on the top. Watson said: "I don't think a hamster has ever had a better send-off."

4:20 Dobby has never heard of "reverse psychology" ... "They hate it? Quick, do it more!" ... which is basically how a lot of the "rebellious teen spirit" works. Sadly not every teen is the same, so telling kids that "smashing stuff is ok" (to try to prevent them from doing it) will also create the same result. tl;dr Parenting is HARD and the only way to "teach children" is CONSEQUENCES ... and maybe explaining why something is bad could work, but the reasoning has to be repeated constantly.

Fun reaction Ladies. I enjoyed this movie quite a bit. It had a tighter story than the first movie. The third (next) one is many people's favorite in the series, both in the movies and the books. Anyway, you ladies didn't freak out as bad as I was anticipating, at the spiders! Good job! 😂😂👏👏👏 🎉Happy New Year Lovely Ladies🎉 , and will see you next year. 😎👍

Mrs. Norris, Filch's cat, is named after a mean, interfering character from Jane Austen's "Mansfield Park". After all this time I'm just realizing, Filch is an Austen fan?? (Of course, it's author Jo Rowling who is.)

31:50 With Harry carelessly dropping his wand ... the first thing I'd do is design a HOLSTER FOR THE WAND, because - honestly - where do these people have their wands when they dont use them?
@learobinson4450
@learobinson4450 6 ай бұрын
The books briefly mention pockets in their robes for their wands. Personally I’d make a glove that secures the wand while it’s being held in their hand. No more dropping it or being disarmed during battle.

There are 8 movies. They are all inter connected. Some are more interesting than others for different viewers. Thing is they are required reading overall. Toward the end the dry subjects become relevant in the larger sense. Remember this story line was written for kids. The characters are 10 and they grow 7 to 10 years over the 8 movies. As the story evolves it becomes more intense and "darker". Observe the logo in the opening credits. It gets darker with each movie

"for kids" is usually a sign for adults to "ignore them", but there are good lessons to learn for adults too. One of them for instance is something that is at the end of the 4th movie (not in the book): "Soon we will have to decide between what is RIGHT and what is EASY ..." tl;dr I wouldnt use this phrase, because it seems to turn off adult's brains the same way as going to a comedy show never seems to make people think about their own flaws which a comedian just ridiculed on stage and which you laughed about.

14:00 It is Filch's cat ... and her name comes from Jane Austen's novel "Mansfield Park". If you havent read it ... just watch the 1983 miniseries instead, because the book is "kinda long and meh-written" and the series is near-perfect. Dont bother with any of the movies made, because they have to cut too much of the content for it to be any good.
