The last time I touched or heard this soundtrack was probably around 2003 (at the very latest) when I was 7 years old. Here on 19th May 2017 this is the first time I've heard the music since then. The memory of it is so incredibly vivid I just stopped and stared at the screen for 5 minutes thinking bloody hell - some things, no matter how long ago it was since you last had any interaction with them - stay in your mind forever. Fact of the matter is - if I leave this song alone for another 40 years - I'm positive in 40 years when I hear it again it will be just as vivid.

I played the first three games a time ago and they are a source of inspiration for me. The game aged alot no question. But somehow as a child this had such an impact, that i can still feel the same exictment, which makes me get used to the graphics, the sometimes probably unintentional-funny animations and gameplay. Just playing the first entrance scene for example, after the chunky dumbledore gave his welcome speech to harry, and the Music sets in, is wonderful. Especially the music echoes this excitment and wonder, like it comes directly out of my childhood mind and soule. There is something unspeakable joyful and at the same time unspeakable sad...
@SnapCrackleAndPip9 жыл бұрын
AlphaOrchestra Was that an intentional mis-spell of 'soul'? As the music was, I believe, written by Jeremy Soule. Anyway that's a clever pun even if unintentional :P
@MrKlausbaudelaire9 жыл бұрын
AlphaOrchestra funny thing is, playing the game again, after also getting some experience in 3D modeling, I noticed that, despite the absurdly low amount of polygons and cheap textures to simulate depth and folds in their clothes, the animation still feels REALLY smooth and natural.
@AlphaOrchestra9 жыл бұрын
MrKlausbaudelaire Indeed. Like the jumping- and wand whirling animations for example. ***** Hey, the music was indeed written by Mr. Soule and giving what music this name stands for, besides this resemblance, it offers to question, if it is even necessery to distinguish between these two ^^

One of the most beautiful pieces of music I've had the opportunity to listen to. Of course, not simply due to how it sounds but all that it stands for.

I remember playing this game as a kid, looking forward to the future and what surprises lay in store. Now I'm homeless, but I still find myself coming back to this song

This theme has been sitting in my hand for 20 years. Unlike most radio hits I've never found, I knew its name all along. Jeremy Soule truly deserves his BAFTA reward for this game!

26/06/17 20 Years of Harry Potter, the magic is forever, timeless. Jeremy Soule is a genius, who has not dreamed of being in Hogwarts after hearing his magic songs ? Beautiful magic.

Gah! So many memories the first 3 HP PC games were the best!! Out of the first 3 I would say the 2nd one was my personal favorite. What kills me the most is that I can't seem to defeat Voldemort in the first game (it's where you have to rotate the mirror)
@FelixNBR10 жыл бұрын
yeah I weren´able to defeat him either :p, part 2 was my favorite game, But I have to say I only played 1+2 and 3 only a littlebit (it was way too different for me from the other 2 games) and number 2 will always be my favorite game of all time. I´m 17 now, almost 18 and I still love the world of Harry Potter. Sometimes I wish I was 8 again and reading the books for the first time.. Those were the best moments of my life.. Btw, I am still waiting for my letter from Hogwarts :p

I didn't have much difficulty in that part, i had more difficulty in the part where you infiltrate the slitherin part of the castle in the 2nd game. I just couldn't get out of tere without being caught by some slitherin bitch xD love the games tho

I think what makes Soule's Harry Potter music so special is that it's not just "orchestra music" but music that's inspired by Medieval-era musical elements, as well as classical music as a whole. I remember watching an interview about the making of HP2's PC version and Jeremy Soule said something along the lines of the team being very particular about how appropriate for the overall atmosphere of Hogwarts the music should be. As a result we get this song. The tracks in these games are crafted like Faberge eggs, they are so rich in their craft that after almost a lifetime of listening to them I still find new things to be amazed by. I must say that I even prefer Soule's HP music over his Oblivion stuff, I think this is his underrated masterpiece.

You took the words right out of my mouth, even knowing that there's someone out there like me doing the same I feel a little better, we can get through this! Never give up...just find time to relax and remember the good times.... I know how difficult it is. This music helps so much, I love this game.
