Out of all the deleted scenes, I'll never understand why this was cut. It's perfect, and it would have made the ending more poignant. Even though it's not as much as the book, it would have added more to Harry's grief and well as his friendship with Ron and Hermione. I mean, it's barely over a minute long! I still love the film but there needs to be an extended cut.

Aside from Ron being very considerate towards Harry, I also loved the Ron and Hermione part...someone asked why they didn't talk, but I loved the silent understanding that passed through between them!

I'm shocked that this was cut from the final product. It's short but so very very powerful and incredibly moving. I haven't seen the movie since OPENING DAY but just seeing this made me tear up. It's something that was needed and obviously missing from the film.

I have tears in my eyes. I hadn't seen this scene in forever. The music is so sad and the look on Harry's face... it is so full of pain. What a great scene, great Harry/Ron interaction, either way... :P My heart goes out to poor Harry... :*(

that nearly headless nick scene in the book broke my heart. harry was grasping at straws for sirius to come back in any shape or form. i cried.

Yes, that was the one thing that really bothered me. I think the movie was too short to give us an understanding of Harry's feelings and emotions troughout the year. In the book he felt sort of disgusted everytime there was this connection between Harry and Voldemort... and that wasn't entirely clear in the movies, which is a sad thing really.

i dont like how this was the shortest movie, but the longest book. its angering.

in the first book they only left out like 3 or 4 things. but you get a better understanding when you read the books

he does cry in the book. when he sits at the lake where he and sirius were attacked by the dementors, it says when he got up he wiped his face on his sleeve. people often overlook these things in JKR's writing. she doesn't come out and say it, but it's implied. in hbp he spent the first few weeks back at the dursleys locked in his room, refusing to eat. so he does mourn sirius in his own way.

It was actually supposed to go after Harry talks to Dumbledore. After this scene was cut, pieces of it (Harry packing and sitting on his bed) were inserted right before the talk with Dumbledore, probably for pacing.

It was in the original script and it may even have been filmed because they filmed a scene showing Hagrid and McGonnagal (in a wheelchair) returning to Hogwarts.

Amen. That is the best scene in all 7 books in my opinion, so much emotion and drama packed into that scene and they cut it! I was upset when I saw it. Of course I was pleased to see how good of a job they did with the possesion scene, I actually think that scene was better in the movie than the book.

I don't really understand why they cut this scene... In my opinion the main plot of the book lost in the movie: in one hand they didn't really show Harry's feelings about Sirius's death(see this scene...), and in the other they skipped most of the part of his conversation with Dumbledore, although that's the mainest thing what happened in HP5... So, anyway, miss this scene from the movie...:-(

How would one minute and 18 seconds have made it so much longer? They were stupid for cutting it

2)In this cut scene, Ron mentions the feast. Harry also mentions the feast to Luna in the film after Harry talks with Dumbledore. If this deleted scene took place before Harry and DD's talk (which is plainly set in early morning) then Ron would say the feast is starting, early next morning Harry would talk with Dumbledore, then later that day Harry would ask Luna why she wasn't currently at the feast - which took place the day before. It wouldn't make sense.

Lord Of The Rings extended editions are more than three hours, the Harry Potter movies are two hours and thirty minutes. Also this fifth one is like Two hours and seventeen minutes.

I liked that scene. They should have keept it in the movie. If they had, I'd probably name if my favorite scene. I hope the 6th movie is better than the 5th one though. They left a lot out in the 5th movie.

Did you ever see the D&D movie? The first one that is. Normally when you watch a deleted scene in a movie you can see why it was cut out even if you don't totally agree. In that movie the scenes that they cut out explained the main plot of the movie and the main character's motivations! That was the worst movie for the scenes they cut, it could have been acceptable.

The HP movies really are quite bad. They leave out wayyy to much stuff from the books. Also, they leave out things or moments that are crucial later on in the series. The movies suck. JK forever!
