Dumbledore gave this address to his students, knowing that he'd be dead within the year, to have them look into themselves. He wanted them to decide if they wanted to be like Voldemort and his Death Eaters or not. Honestly I really love how when Dumbledore says ‘but in the end… their greatest weapon.. is you.’ And looks in Draco’s direction. Because he knew truly that Draco was never a death eater- just because you have the dark mark doesn’t mean you’re ever truly what it means to be a death eater, Draco I’d say is the proof that someone can have the dark mark but still be a brilliant person and not truly be a death eater at all at heart.
@James-gc5if Жыл бұрын

After recently watching Richard Harris as Dumbledore, I've began to realise that he worked really well for Chris Columbus' vision of HP - the brighter and more child-like adaptions, but when times got darker and Dumbledore had to be a serious badass, I wonder how he'd compare to Michael Gambon. Love this movie!
@lucasstamper81505 жыл бұрын
It's still not accurate with the description of the book though. Dumbledore was still a calm man and sensible man in all of the books and Richard Harris really represented that.
@mariusloftum6934 жыл бұрын
I think seeing Harris in these more serious movies would've been even better. Imagine Harris beating Voldemort. He had a gravitas about him. He WAS old, tho. Too bad it couldn't be. It would've been amazing I'm sure.
@usmanmajid78374 жыл бұрын
@@mariusloftum693 @LucasStamper Yeah I agree Harris was more accurate to the book's description of calm Dumbledore, but I honestly can't picture him violently throwing huge spells at Voldemort or creating a blazing fire to ward off the inferi after they find the locket. I don't know, it's just me. It would be nice to see though!
@minhajnizam50903 жыл бұрын

HBP is either a underrated or well loved story. I love it because it gave us a fair break from Voldemort directly and war-like scenes, and really gave what we came for again: a solid year of classes, you see more growth in characters, love interests, Harry and Draco’s rivalry coming to the pilt, and the relationship between Harry and Dumbledore is displayed perfectly here than any other film. It’s only fair to make the second to last story a year of more leniency, schoolwork, some comedy and romance because it was JK’s only shot at it, because come Deathly Hallows its war time. Simple. It was a necessary breath of fresh air.

for those who are not native speakers The very best of evenings to you all! First off, let me introduce the newest member of our staff, Horace Slughorn. Professor Slughorn, I’m happy to say, has agreed to resume his old post of Potions master. Meanwhile the post of Defense Against the Dark Arts will be taken by Professor Snape. Now, as you know, each and every one of you was searched upon your arrival tonight. You have a right to know why. Once there was a young man who, like you, sat in this very Hall. Walked this castle’s corridors. Slept under its roof. He seemed, to all the world, a student like any other. His name? Tom Riddle. Today, of course, he is know all over the world by another name. Which is why, as I stand looking out upon you all tonight, I am reminded of a sobering fact. Every day, every hour, this very minute perhaps, dark forces attempt to penetrate this castles walls. But in the end, their greatest weapon is you. Just something to think about. Now, off to bed. Pip pip!

While everyone else turned away, he kept looking at Harry as if to say "what happened, talk to me" (which is understandable since Harry and Neville became somewhat closer friends after GoF and ofc OotP). 2. I read through this passage in the book recently and I kept asking myself, what must this have felt like for Dumbledore, knowing that he was going to die and this was the last time that he would ever give an opening speech to the new school year.

Now as you know, each and every one of you Padawans were searched upon your arrival here tonight and you have the right to know why. Once there was a young apprentice, who like you, trained in the ways of the Force, walked in its knowledge, studied under its arts. This apprentice seemed to across the galaxy a student like any other. The name is: (any fallen Jedi or rising Siths’ previous names). Today, of course, the student is known in the galaxy by another name, which is why, as I stand looking out upon you all tonight, I'm reminded of a sobering fact: Every day, every hour, this very minute, perhaps, the dark side of the Force attempt to penetrate this temple’s walls. But in the end, their greatest weapon... is you. There's something to think about. Now off to bed, pip pip!
