It actually is pretty bad from an acting standpoint. The yell should be almost noncoherent from any dad experiencing that level of pain out of seemingly nowhere. I know 90% of real fathers would be almost snarling and snotting with the thoughts crossing their minds. Picture the captain from 300(who also played on Troy) when he lost his son... that dude would have done a much, much better job with this scene

"Priori Incantatem" or "the reverse spell effect" is a piece of magic used (in the normal course of events) to show the last spell a wand has cast. However, when two wands with twin cores (remember, Harry & Voldemort's wand cores both come from the same phoenix) are forced to fight each other, a more powerful version of the reverse spell effect can occur. That's what you saw happen in the graveyard. In the book they set that whole thing up much better, the priori incantatem spell is used earlier in the book so you're aware of the concept early on. So technically that wasn't really Harry's parents, or Cedric. It was like a magical snapshot, an echo of them as they were at the moment of death. It's actually very similar (lore-wise) to how ghosts, magic paintings & magic photos work in the HP universe. It's not the actual person, more like a simulation of them that acts exactly as that person would have acted at the moment the image was captured. They are unable to change, or grow emotionally. They just exist as an echo. It kinda makes you sad for Myrtle. She is eternally trapped as a thirsty, emo teenager.

Not sure if someone already said this but in the books Hermione is kind of an "ugly duckling" in the first few years, the Slytherin girls make fun of her for her buckteeth and hair, stuff like that. In my opinion that makes her glowup at the ball and her getting asked out by Krum much more impactful and kind of cathartic.

It was difficult for Emma Watson to speak with the teeth extensions. And probably some people did not have the heart to use makeup to make her more ugly. They also dumbed down Ron in the movies (comic relief?) and gave some intelligent remarks to Hermione instead. But the dynamic works nevertheless.
@ronweber1402
@ronweber1402 Жыл бұрын
@@sebastianwittmeier1274 I don't like what they did to Ron. They didn't have to dumb Ron down to glow Hermione up. The dynamic should have been Harry, the reluctant, humble but powerful hero, Hermione the brilliant, talented but prone to freeze under pressure friend and finally Ron as the streetwise friend who guides them both through the ins and outs of the wizarding world all while trying to stand out in a whole family of respected and talented older brothers.

@@ronweber1402 This. A lot of people who have only seen the films miss what makes Ron such an integral part in the books because it isn't conveyed hardly at all in the films. He's knowledgeable about a lot of stuff because of his having grown up in the wizarding world, with a father who works in the Ministry, and older brothers who are all very talented wizards, and he learns lots of things from them. He's not amazing at any one particular subject/field of magic like Harry or Hermione are, but he's competent in many of them, and he works hard at things he cares about and he's endlessly loyal to his friends, almost to a fault. He, Harry, and Hermione have the odd spat and bicker plenty in their time throughout the series, but he's a great friend to have in my opinion.

Ron’s flaw is his insecurity. He’s the youngest of six boys. All of his brothers are successful & popular. The oldest, Bill, was Head Boy at Hogwarts & became a curse breaker for Gringotts, the wizard bank. Charlie was Quidditch captain while at Hogwarts & has a very dangerous job working with dragons. Percy was also Head Boy & has a career in the Ministry of Magic. Fred & George are twins which gets them lots of attention plus they’re natural jokesters & very popular. Then there’s the Ginny. The baby of the family & the long awaited, desperately wanted girl. Her magic is powerful & she outgoing, athletic & pretty. Ron has always felt forgotten & pushed aside. In the books he tells Harry that it doesn’t matter if he good at something because his brothers have done it first. It doesn’t help that his parents can’t afford to buy him anything new so he’s always having to make due with hand me downs from his brothers. Even his wand in the first two books/movies was a hand me down from his brother Charlie. The wand did not choose Ron so he wasn’t able to use it to the best of his ability. It’s allegiance was to Charlie, not Ron. It wasn’t until he got a brand new wand that actually chose him that his true magical abilities came through. Plus, his own mother can’t remember his personal preferences & constantly gives him food he doesn’t like & handmade clothing in maroon, a color he hates. Add to that the fact that his two best friends are the world famous Harry Potter & Hermione, the smartest student at Hogwarts. He’s tired of being overlooked, pushed aside & feeling like he’s lesser than all those around him. In the first book/movie when Ron looked into the Mirror of Erised he saw himself as Head Boy & Quidditch Captain while holding the House Cup, the most accomplished of all the Weasleys. So it’s easy to see why he’s jealous of Harry getting into the Triwizard Tournament. Winning the Tournament would prove what a great wizard Ron is but he wasn’t even allowed to put his name in for consideration. So it’s understandable that it finally got to be too much & Ron let out his anger & jealousy.

Just tired of those that say he’s nothing but the comic relief. He’s the character with the greatest emotional range. We get to see him happy, sad, jealous, angry, lonely, adventurous, brave, in love & loyal to his family & friends. He’s the heart of the Trio. Plus he does a lot in the story. He’s the most knowledgeable about the Wizarding world of the Trio & he had his own moments of heroism in each book/movie. He’s much more than the comic relief & those that can’t see past the obvious need to realize that.

There is genuinely so much to like in this reaction. Your intuition and emotional intelligence are exceptional. Often you'd make a comment about something that either happens later or in the books and I'd be shook. Plus, you're the first person I've seen to call Robert Pattinson Batman instead of Edward (something I'm sure he appreciates). You're correct that there's more going on in the books. For example, there's one part where Harry sees Barty Crouch in Snape's office on the Marauder's map. This is genuinely baffling to both Harry and the reader, because as far as we know, there is only one Barty Crouch. That his son also shares his first name was the solution, and that combined with the daring, bravery and brilliant spywork of Crouch Jr. as Moody (even though he is very twisted) makes this my favourite Potter mystery.

Since the film doesn’t properly explain: what happened with the wands is Priori Incantatem, which is an effect that occurs when two wands that have magical cores deriving from the same source are used against each other. One or the other of the wands is forced to regurgitate the last spells that it was used to cast. The last spells Voldemort’s wand cast included using the killing curse on Cedric, the caretaker, Lily Potter, and James Potter and so they appear as echos of their living selves.

Easy to see why Krum would want to take Hermione to the Yule Ball. She gives every indication of rising high in the Wizarding World, so making friends and keeping in touch by writing would make for a very valuable contact. They didn't explain properly how Harry was able to see his parents in the movie. Remember in the first film when Ollivaner, the shopkeeper of the wand shop, said that the phoenix that gave the feather for Harry's wand gave only one more feather and the wand which had that feather as its core gave Harry his scar. So in a way Voldemort's wand and Harry's wand are brothers. Priori Incantatem occurs when spells from such wands clash and rather than killing the masters of each other, wands start puking out the previous spells they were used for. In Voldemort's case those spells were the Killing Curse he used on Cedric, the old caretaker and Harry's parents. This actually saved Harry's life because this is the only way to block a Killing Curse with a spell.

More characters, more story lines, less plotholes, more connections and more thinks make sense, much much more explanation and details, characters are better written and yeah almost anything is much better in the books. you are right to some degree, however there are also MANY things or lines (if you know you know) that are added to the movies which I ADORE! when I was a kid i've watched the movies 100s of times and only recently finished reading the books. I'm truly glad I did because it's a masterpiece - but i also missed some moments of the films so i think the two combined is the 🐐 😄

I've been a long time HP fan, I played the games and read the books as well and am looking forward to your future reactions. Idk if you do any gaming but there is a new game coming out on Feb. 10 this year called Hogwart's Legacy, set during the 1800's (way before anyone from the movies was around) and it's looks amazing. If you read often, I would def. recommend the books, there is soooo much lore and information about the characters left out in the movies.

I'm telling ya, DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 2, imo, is the best end movie of a movie series. You'll love it. They are all great but, wow, what an ending!!! Let's take a minute to appreciate the acting skill portrayed by (actor) Cedric's dad. In that few seconds, he had everyone crying because we felt his pain and most everyone mentions it in reactors comments. He made more of an impression in a few seconds than a lot of leads have in movies. I must say, you certainly figure out a lot in these movies, so much that one would think you've already seen the series. You say you haven't and I believe you but I was very confused watching the series for the first time. I will add that I really never watched these kinds of movies before.(wizards,magic,etc) So can you figure it out because you watch a lot of similar movies? Just curious. Ok, hurry with the next Harry Potter reaction, I'm ready! 🙂

LOTR Comment: I'm old as dirt now. In the 1960s, I read the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I had a really great English teacher who loaned me each book as an encouragement; no other student, just me. And these were her personal paperback volumes, so I had to read, then return them. The Trilogy was written first, the prequel "The Hobbit" was written after the Trilogy was published. Loved reading this epic as a teenager. Loved watching the films as a parent. Loved sharing the film with my daughter, then later attending the whole Harry Potter series with her. Her father (we were separated) read her the books, so she had the full Harry Potter experience, as I had with LOTR/Hobbit.

Ames I share your reaction to this movie being just a shade below the previous HP movie. I liken it to a roller coaster that has been going up, up, up and then hits that plateau before it goes plunging downward. Goblet of Fire is the plateau, lots of pageantry with the contest and ball and then the darkness and tragedy with the rebirth of Voldemort. From here on out things get darker and more dire, the innocence of the first few movies is gone and the kids are forced into early adulthood. But if you have plenty of tissue boxes on hand we will keep on watching with you😀!

I think you're going to want to read the books eventually. There's a lot more details and explanations in there. Many of the things that aren't quite made clear in the movies make more sense in the books. For example, Beauxbatons is not supposed to be an all-girls school. Because where would all the male wizards from France go? Likewise, Durmstrang is not an all-boys school. There are 11 major wizarding schools around the world, and probably many more minor ones. The biggest American one is called Ilvermorny, and is located in Massachusetts somewhere. But assuming that the percentage of magical Americans is the same as magical Brits, Ilvermorny would have to be about 50 times the size of Hogwarts to accommodate all American witches and wizards. So I think it's a safe bet that there are other wizarding schools in America, even if Ilvermorny is the oldest and largest. Are 11-year-old wizards from California going to go all the way across the country to attend school? I doubt it.

Yes, Harry Potter started the trend of needlessly splitting single books into multiple movies, particularly at the end. But it was arguably quite necessary for HP - the last book is SO dense, almost every single moment is essential to the plot, there really isn't much you can get rid of. But other series did it just because HP got away with it, and they saw it as an opportunity to add one more film and make more money.

Cedric Diggory tackled the task first, against a Swedish Short-Snout. He used a Transfiguration spell to change a rock into a dog to distract the dragon. He was partially successful; the dragon took the bait, and Cedric went for the Golden egg. Halfway through, the dragon turned its attention back to Cedric, and burned his face. Cedric retrieved the egg, however, and passed the task. Second was Fleur Delacour, who faced a Common Welsh Green. She enchanted the dragon to sleep, but while retrieving the golden egg, the dragon snored and let out a jet of flame that set her skirt alight. She extinguished the flames, and retrieved her egg. Viktor Krum was third, facing a Chinese Fireball. He used the Conjunctivitis Curse to blind the dragon and retrieve his egg. However, he was docked points when the dragon stumbled around and smashed half of the real eggs. Harry Potter drew the fiercest of them all, the Hungarian Horntail. On the advice of Crouch Jr. (disguised as Professor Moody), he used a Summoning Charm to bring his Firebolt broomstick to him, and manoeuvred past the dragon to retrieve his egg. After the First Task, Harry and Viktor were tied for first place, with Cedric in second, and Fleur in third. The champions were told that, the Golden egg they retrieved contained a clue on how to pass the Second Task. Without it, they had little chance of succeeding.

YEAH! I'm excited! This one is a turning point in the storyline! Love your reactions as always❤️ 0:22 You were supposed to! They skipped a whole chapter's details in this few minutes scene! Read the books! But a brief note: He killed his whole father's family... Yeah... 😃 His mum was a witch who died after giving birth and his dad was a Muggle and that was his dad's family house they're in. 0:46 Nagini WAS a woman yes... 🤫 You could read more about her after the movies or it's kinda told in Fantastic beasts. 1:07 Nope.. he's just there for a part of the summer but he's got to stay at his aunt's. Don't know if anyone told you but it's got to do with his mom's protection magic she unleashed when she died for him. If he's near blood relatives the protection stays strong until he's of age "17 in the wizarding world" and it lifts. It's Dumbledore's idea of course and he's right as always 👌🏻❤️ 2:22 AWWWW OMG we love YOU! 😭❤️❤️❤️❤️ 6:44 Alrighttt see.. Animagi is a very very very advanced magic not everyone can do it you've got to do some serious steps and hard tasks and you still might fail, and the transformation could go terribly wrong. Basically it's the ability to turn into an animal at will You cannot choose the animal you turn into; it becomes the animal that suits you, your traits and personality the most; much like your patronus basically. You have to register with the Ministry when you become one; to keep an eye on you for law breaking reasons obv. Harry's father, Sirius and Wormtail were unregistered ones and they achieved the hard task by the age of only 14 to help their friend Lupin and keep him company at the times of his transformation every month. Yes McGonagall is one and she's one of only seven registered ones in the century. 8:07 He was raised by his grandma.. she's alive. His parents aren't dead if you assumed after watching the court scene.. they were tortured to madness "with the Cruciatus curse" by Barty Crouch Jr and other death eaters you'll know later and are now at St Mungo's Hospital for magical maladies and injuries.. they don't recognise him or anything anymore 💔😭 9:27 Nope..no..noo Read the books though! I love them! Totally different. 32:43 He can touch him now because he used his blood to remake his body, so the same blood "that holds Liliy's protection btw" runs in both of them now; you know it's like there's no barrier between them anymore, like Voldemort's in the same side as Harry somehow..--> Harry • | • Voldemort ••| You see with the column as the protection magic? Get it? And like you said it yes they now are deeply connected by more than one thing.. There's further say in this matter "that was a foolish move on Voldemort's part to use Harry's blood btw" but you'll know later about that you shouldn't now 🤫😂😅 33:44 My favorite part! now let me tell you; Here Voldemort was actually losing to harry, hence the connection point was getting more and more towards him, Harry there was facing death literally and got nothing to lose. AND ten times braver actually than Voldemort in facing death and fear. The wands here also could not duel properly that's why they connect like that it's like none of them could harm the other fatally, so it also depends on the wands masters themselves. So what happened here got a lot to do with their wands sharing the same core "the same Phoenix's tail feathers" and in this rare case here the wands unlock a very rare effect which is the reversing spell "Priori Incantatem" Dumbledore said the name at the end you see.. 36:51 Anyway so the losing wand "Voldemort's here" then would be forced to regurgitate "echoes" of the most recent spells it had cast in reverse order, in Voldemort's case they were all killings so the recent ones he killed appear in reverse; Cedric, the caretaker and Harry's mom and dad and actually if he hadn't broken the connection then it would've continued on.. The dead people that appeard aren't actually them they just echoes that retained the "appearance and character" of the those people. They can hold conversations and could remember the events leading up to and following their deaths like you saw them talking to Harry. They could only linger for a few moments before they faded back. 💔 THAAAAT was a freaking essay! LOL😂😂 but I just wanted to answer all of your questions! And don't worry it's as much as you need to know no unnecessary spoilers 😉❤️ Love yaa! ❤️❤️❤️

There are 11 schools according to J.K. and she names 6 of them. The American one you here a bit about in Fantastic Beasts. Its name is Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The Seen where in class with Moody and he makes Nevel mention the torture Curse. He then tortures the spider and Nevel gets freeked out is darker than they let on in the move. It is talked about in the books. Nevle's Mother and Father were captured by the Death eaters just before Harrys parents were killed, and Bellatrix LeStrange and Barty Crouch Jr (the guy impersonating Mad Eye) used the Cruciatus curse on them for so long it made them both go insane and now Thay are in the mantle ward at the Wizarding Hospital in London. So when you put the pieces together, That whole scene between Nevel and Mad Eye (Barty Crouch Jr) Is IMO the Darkest in the series.

one thing that a lot of ppl that’s never read the books get wrong is the circumstances of Harry’s living situation because the movies failed to explain that very important detail…Harry HAS!!! to live with the Dursley’s, not because there’s no better kinder ppl he could live with but because there’s no one else he could live with and be completely safe from any form of attack while in the house…as Voldemort stated in the graveyard when Harry’s mother sacrificed herself she provided the ultimate form of protection against Voldemort, and Dumbledore realized he could amplify that protection to work against any evil when he’s at home away from Hogwarts, and the key ingredient is his mother’s blood…the protection can only work if Harry can call home a place where his mothers blood dwells, and his mother has only one remaining living blood relative Petunia (Harry’s aunt) and as long as she allows Harry to live there the spell will not break until he turns 17

Filch himself is a squib which is basically a pure/halfblood that has trouble with magic. His cat used to be his wife which is why they’re so close! She was inflicted with a disease that makes one a Maladictus. It may tie to the animal you can transform into as an Animagus most likely; which not any wizard can accomplish but eventually makes you stuck in that form forever. This is why Filch was devastated when he seen her hanging by her tail like that. This adds a bit of depth Filch Deserves. ❤ in the fifth movie extended edition you’ll get a tiny bit about filches magic issue as he was taking special courses for “disabled wizards”. I’m autistic so I totally get it. He was a bit ashamed of it when a student seen a business card that fell out his jacket….

The reason those killed by Voldemort appear is explained better in the books. Since Voldemort and Harry's wands share the same core(both phoenix feathers that came from Fawkes), this is told when Harry says what happened: "They will not work properly against each other," said Dumbledore. "If, however, the owners of the wands force the wands to do battle ... a very rare effect will take place. One of the wands will force the other to regurgitate spells it has performed - in reverse. The most recent first. . . and then those which preceded it. . ." So the figures of those killed by Voldemort are all revealed in reverse order.
