We used to be able to buy more Indian goods in Australia, but cheap imports from China swamped almost every market. Indian goods are mostly better quality because they are not just junk produced for export. India should exploit the new sentiment that values quality over low cost. After decades of low quality low cost goods people are wising up.
@smiley4669

That never works. India needs to develop manufacturing more and offer cheaper goods then China. India should also try to encourage Western countries who are against China to put tariffs on Chinese goods.

2047 is a long ways off. A lot can happen in 25 years, so don't worry too much about the numbers game ('largest', 'second largest' etc). The focus should be on sustained economic development (not just GDP but per capita GDP), overall human development (education, healthcare etc), city planning, political stability etc., all of which contribute to quality of life. I believe good things are happening and should continue. China will have to deal with demographic decline soon and the US is becoming dysfunctional (political polarization, culture wars etc); India should learn lessons from both.

@@mlg1279 Military cannot win an asymmetric war since last 40 years. They know it. All these weapons are useless because there is no men in uniform or hardware to shoot at. They are busy shooting minds of the enemy population. The USD doesn't have a reliable alternative yet, that's why everyone is floating cryptos. If US dollar falls it will take the Chinese and other major economies with it. The Arabs know their petro dollar is in double danger from technology and a shaky US$. That's why they are furiously trying to reform and change their Geo politics. The Russians are also worried about oil prices 10 years down the line.

We endured 250 years of colonialism and we should have learnt the lessons by now. If India needs to be the world's largest economy and a vishwaguru, then economic policies alone won't help. India will need an extreme geopolitical strategy to deal with the entire world and apply the lessons learnt to extract maximum milage. The smart Indians should have understood my point by now without saying it explicitly.

DO YOU KNOW? In 1990, the global GDP was $26 trillion and US GDP was $6 trillion, China GDP was $ 360 billion and Indian GDP was $ 266 billion. In 2022, the Global GDP is $ 100 trillion, US GDP is $ 25 trillion, China GDP $ 20 trillion and India GDP is $ 3.3 trillion. Between 1990 and 2022, Global GDP increased by 4 times, US GDP increased by 4 times, China GDP increased by 55 times and Indian GDP increased by 12 times. Similarly, during 1990-2022, the global population increased from 5.27 billion to 8 billion, the US population from 250 million to 330 million, Chinese population from 1135 million to 1451 million and the Indian population from 873 million to 1417 million. The Collapse of Communism in 1989 coupled with economic and trade liberalization aided by technological adoption led to this huge wealth creation in the last 32 years and going forward, Global GDP would reach $ 300 trillion by 2050. So India achieving a GDP of $ 30-35 trillion by 2047 and emerging as the second largest economy in the World is not that much challenging. India is already the third largest economy on Purchasing Power Parity basis with $ 11.75 trillion GDP at Per Capita GDP of $ 8,360. Therefore, exciting times are ahead at global level in the next 30 years for huge wealth creation on absolute terms and per capita basis ably supported by entrepreneurship, globalization and technological adoption and innovation. Best is yet to come for the World and India.

Between 1896 & 2020, excluding the delayed 2020 summer Olympics, India won a total of 28 medals which is the same as the number of medals won by Michael Phelps during his swim career. 23 IITs (now, started with 5 in 1950s) across India have not been able to produce a single Nobel laureate in Physics / Chemistry / Medicine in 75 years. IISc was started by a wealthy industrialist and the king of Mysore. IISc has ONLY 1 Nobel laureate associated with it - Sir CV Raman. Stanford university was started by a mother around the same time as IISc, in memory of her son who passed away at an early age (Leland Stanford Jr). In ~120 years, Stanford has produced over 80 Nobel Laureates. IISc - ZERO! IISc IS NOT EVEN A UNIVERSITY!!! Pathetic! Now you still want to talk about India becoming the world's largest economy by 2047. Hahaha!!! Fix India's educational system first (ABOLISH the CBSE, ICSE, State board and other miserable boards of education) and aim for 100% valuable literacy which alone will take easily 100 years. VALUABLE literacy and not the kind where Indian elite literates are ill-literates in their own mother tongues, capable of speaking only in Hinglish, Tamlish, Kannalish, etc...

India is a great country indeed but I am not believe that India will become world largest economy in the guidance of Chaiwala PM@. Ground realities are far away from his analysis & assessment.

India doesn’t have millions of Uighur s in detention to produce Made in China products.That’s why it’s hard to match Chinese price of cheap goods.

Maybe this person and other people in the comments have not heard of the concept of per capita. It will take eons to take India's per capita income anywhere near developed countries' per capita incomes. This is just sophistry at best.

If China can manage its demographics/aging population problem and current economic (property market) woes. Also if Xi continues being belligerent it will isolate China a lot more, and that will impact their economy. Either way, the west has learnt to diversify instead of depending only on China, and India should continue capitalizing on it.

I can bet my life it won't be. Why give false promises and give jumla to our citizens. I am a supporter+critic of BJP and its policies and want India to do the best. There are serious problems in our society and the fun fact is that the oppressors always creates ruckus and the victims don't even spell a word of foul. 1. Women's marriage age: why women not come on streets and slam all these bulls*** party politics on their rights. 2. Rewriting history books: why can't just students demand their rights to have their history books glorify Indians not some sadak chap type Mughals.

I agree with your sentiments. But trust me this fire and eagerness which have shown is the reason why India is going to see a quantum leap. Many societies do not have this hunger for progress, self criticism, self introspection, self growth and prosperity which actually leads to the high growth trajectory.

Women didn’t protest the marriage age because they’re happy with it. 21 means they can study without the parents marrying them off. It means a family member can’t sell a teenage girl into the market for cash. It means a mulla can’t steal a teenage girl and marry her off to a 50 yrs old man for conversion by threatening her family. So many families tried to get these girls back, but court had to support the legality of the marriage and conversion. There r so many such women that have been trapped for lives.
