I love watching how fast Maxpax flip flops between his oracles and everything else. He legit went home to do something while the oracle was killing drones and then came back to pull it away once the queen had shot down its shields. A madlad.

MaxPax' understanding of tempo is impressive. He knows when to attack but doesnt rush it , great harass, great defense..! Also i loved the usage of so many stasis traps. Super nice, gg ! Harstem i love your casts and your gameplay too ! Keep it up my man

I can't even remember who it was, but several years ago, I saw some protoss using the hell out of stasis wards. I thought that that was the play. MaxPax has been leaning heavily into that style recently, and I still think it's the play. Of course, the trick is you need to keep 2 or 3 oracles alive, which is much easier said than done.

Why does this video have the same thumb as the recent Dark vs Hero game (posted 4 days ago as of now)? If I understand it correctly the thumb for that game is from this game.

5:51 ok look at that building placement it funnels in through 1 sqaure, both sides, room for 8 stalkers inside, and allow for easy walkthrough a 5 attempts to wall off. also a fine trap to pull melee through. thats kinda what i want to see as your walls for entrence to your base; place photon and bats on both sides and the amount off forces to just get lings in would be insane, your safe for counters and you can full wall easily, and if photon open it easily (6cannon takes care off a pylon real quick.) you can even have a probe on hold command in both entrences, giving you double chance to wall in when unexpectedly many lings rampage in.

6:02 i want to see him throw up a pylon and some batteries and keep trading and pushing, could even throw up a gate to created funnel and quick reinforcements; its only the investment off one zealot sacrifical shift-amove attempt.

6:19 collus behind wall here with shieldbat would be impossible to stop without viper, lurker or corruptors; and a high amount off photons and stalkers, hopefully some archons, would stop that :DD so badly want to see offensive statics more used to keep big powerhouses alive, it can even prolong the time to kill so a recall can comee through and safe an otherwise death collossus or maybe even 10+ supply units that would have died on the recall. so yer i think thats the next big P advancement ^^

6:44 finally someeone who understand collus should be furthest possibly away from the fight, so if lings at max range from frontline, so they can max ling dmg :P and with some batteries and photon wall to protect them, and to heal them if pulled or corruptor jumped; and if Z invested 2000minerals into corruptor you can damn well get yourself 8 photons and somee batteries to help negated some offf it. also just to punish a bit if jumped, also recall collus when you see 20 corruptors comming, we let them get those kills, get them back to your bases behind static rdy to destroy those garanteed swarms off lings that will be comming after such a transition ;)

7:23 why is your collus/tanks further forward than your stalker/marines? they need to be sieged in protected positions with photons and batteries which thee stalkers then kite the enemy back into while picking off important spellcasters on the way^^

also collus dmg to anything but lings and hydra is terrible, so why push them forward to hit roaches. they need their own control group and again you need to trreat them likee sieged tanks untill they are within range naturally. and dont sacrifice a collus to save 5 stalkers, its betterr to lose 10 stalkerrs than 2 collus, so if you see its impossible to stop thee pulls, you blink in to try and snipe and tank while the collus flee; no banes you can tank it, and its betterr than 2 collus dying.you can also try to recall the moment you notice you are too deep.

I think this is a korean style of play. 3rd bases into 6 gasses and double robo collosi into 4th. I've seen hero play like this quite a bit.

Yes it is. But after herO style, everyone plays this as standard now. MaxPax not making new builds, he is just fast and multi task and set up the stacis like a terran. He wins because of the flawless and correcting all the small mistakes that other people make

Is it just me or does it seem like Protoss has to do more things during fights than the other two races? When I think of Terran (I play T) the actionable thing are Stim pack, burrow mines or siege tanks, and... that's about it unless there are ghosts, then you have the EMPs/Snipes. (Not counting army splitting or drop micro as that is applicable to all 3 races) Zerg has.. ravager biles, burrow lurkers.. later on they have their two spellcasters with a few abilities each. And that's it really other than just microing. Protoss has sentry spells, disruptor casting, stalker blink (have to choose location for each blink), oracle spells, HT spells, moving an observer around, warp-ins (has to be done by looking at the Prism, unlike T and Z macro mechanics) sometimes all in one battle. Not trying to balance whine or anything, it just seems like they need to perform more actions. I need to ask harstem this next time he is streaming

i think that’s probably accurate, but the tradeoff is being able to warp in close to the frontline and having the strongest all-around units

I can't remember the last time maxpax defeat any top Zerg other than solar. dark reynor and serral won't give maxpax a chance, and solar just doesn't have a brain

@@user-mp1iz6gw3d i mean maxpax is 11-12 vs reynor and 35-38 vs dark (in games from the start of 2023) so it's nol like he has been getting crushed xD, and nobody really wins vs serral so thats not fair

MaxPax has almost no variety of play styles, a very predictable decision tree, very precise micro, and doesn't (can't?) play live. All like a bot. The "voice" behind MaxPax is a real person but is the programmer of a very high-level bot.

If he was that good at programming, he would be a millionaire in silicon valley right now, not playing Starcraft in online tournaments. I don't think you comprehend just how hard it is to make a bot that doesn't play like a bot.

@@mriconoclast13 Just so we're clear about what we're talking about here: you're suggesting that somebody has advanced the field of AI by so much that it is indistinguishable from a human, a feat that on its own would make you a billionaire if you did a tech startup and the AI was real, but you think it's being squandered on winning tournaments in Starcraft 2?

@@neruneri How is what I am suggesting much different than AlphaStar? (Which has already been done and the programmers are not billionaires). The voice is a real person but his creation (the bot) is playing. Imagine you as the creator could design the strategies and see a more capable bot carry out the micro. And if some guy's passion is AI programming, testing his work against the world's best players at the world's best game would be exhilarating.
