@@Amritabeautifulsometimes feathers won't shed on their own and it can eventually become life threatening. No regular, healthy feather should come out this easy, he's probably feeling relief. Right after peacocks mate, they start slowly shedding their feathers, but they become pretty easy to pluck out after some time. I used to work at a farm with about 20 peacocks and I can't tell you how many times we have had to catch some of them with a net and hold them down to pluck just one feather that he wouldn't stop pecking at (it looked like it was close to infection). Sometimes they just need help- and if you run a livestock business, this is what you have to do. The peacock will be fine. it's like the equivalent to someone pulling out an ingrown hair for you, it hurts for a second at first, and then there's instant relief. Hope I could help a little!

If you look close the peacock seems to be calm and not in pain, that means it was molting and those feathers being removed were going to fall off anyways

People please first research before posting that it can hurt the animal. Most animals shed things for the summertime and they tend to have trouble shedding it. So humans harvest them to help the animal cool off, and to use those feathers for jewelry, etc.

Guys! If the peacock was in pain or uncomfortable it would be freaking out, this peacock is just molting it feathers so new ones can grow its totally normal and they do it a few times a year, however they can be so big they have problems molting and need assistance.
