The full english breakfast is one of the most popular meals in the UK along with fish & chips but which UK pub/restaurant chain makes the best breakfast buffet version? I head inside 2 of the biggest UK pub/restaurant chains Harvester and Brewers Fayre to try out their full english breakfast buffets to see who is best!

Thanks, Marc! I've hit subscribe. You're definitely refining and improving your craft. I saw one you did early on which was a chicken nugget fast food comparison. You are far more confident and accomplished now. Your take on Winchester or Chelmsford would be good - particularly if you stay in the Chelmsford Travelodge which is right on the Army and Navy roundabout with food outlets beneath. There's also Highlands House there which Netflix used as a stage for the White House in Washington.

Chips and guacamole included. Not sure that one, assume optional. I with the majority, Brewers for me a fine plate for breakfast with mushrooms. Many omit them and black pudding. Both a must in my book. Excellent value too I thought. Another useful video when I'm passing either and require hearty breakfast.

I think Brewers Fayre wins this one in my opinion. Avocado can be a great breakfast item. I did Avocado on a breakfast muffin with a poached egg on top this morning… it’s gorgeous! Loving these breakfast comparisons!!!! …. Smithy

ive only been to one harvester too, in Manchester, and i can safely say it was an event. i'm a wheelchair user and as i was going into the harvester my chair slightly tipped, "thats unusual" i thought to myself, looked down and one of my front wheels wasn't where it should be, luckily i wasnt alone so the person i was with managed to push me to a table, then they went out to look for it, it wasnt ever seen again but we have suspicions that it came off going over the tramlines outside the building and a passing tram took it with it. the reason i mention all this is the staff at the harvester were great, at least one of them went out with the person i was with to look for the escaped wheel, couldn't have been nicer so bonus points to the harvester for that. i cant even remember the meal we had lol. went home after the meal and sorted a new wheel out. As for Brewers Fayre i cant honestly remember if ive been to one.

Definitely Brewer's fayre for me. Great video. Chips are a complete no-no with breakfast, even though they're similar to hash browns. I definitely agree about the black pudding, essential in a full English

I think John it’s just USA stopped in 1980 , we just caught up and surpassed you lol ,we ROW wanted to be like you 1970 , for in 1970 our breakfasts etc were pretty rubbish lol . And we’re told even our wages are still in 1970 fgs but one of your chains hickory smokehouse now is in U.K. and wow it’s ace meat meat and more meat !

I haven't been to the Old Brickworks in years. Looks like they've modernised it slightly. I think that breakfast takes it for me. Harvester had a decent portion, but chips + guacamole just ain't it lol. The black pudding and the sausages looked better at Brewers Fayre too.

Once again I'll say... I like when you say, this was okay but it could have been better. A lot of reviewers tends to dance around something that wasn't quite up to par. Of all things... I think Orange Juice is the one that I've found you get the most variation with. Some of them are bitter and obviously from concentrate and some of them are sweet and fresh. You really get a lot of value for your meal at the second place. Yes, ten pounds isn't cheap, but you got a lot of food. I'm American... you know we like our food in large portions.

Harvester leaving out the mushrooms and doing the southern thing dishing out chips that have as much right on an English breakfast as hash browns , give me strength. Brewers Fayre the more traditional here so I'll forgive their indiscretion with the hash browns 🤣

Brewer’s Fayre. I liked the variety and the food looked like it was well cooked and tastier than Harvester. The guacamole was an interesting offering. I felt like I would have wanted tortilla chips with it!

Agree. Brewer's Fayre. You always seem to have the place to yourself and the staff never seem to be there. Why is that? Always soothing to watch, Marc. I say Marc because you haven't told us your name, but it's Marc to me from now on . . .

Well, i totally agree that the Brewer's Fayre breakfast seems superior all the classic items, well cooked, well priced and well consumed 😂 The Harvester alternative was less a breakfast more a brunch/lunch. Fried potatoes maybe but chips for breakfast is a no no and guacamole at breakfast? The only positive was the quantity but quality is as important and Harvester wins here. Unlimited should always include tea, coffee etc.A lot of these places get more money off you by overcharging for the beverages. Still, another good video. Thanks.

The reason they cook the 'unlimited' breakfast to order is because they know that people will often be too ashamed to take too many of the expensive items or make a second order that they might not finish. I suspect that many of these 'cooked to order' breakfasts are in fact just being kept warm in the back, away from the grasp of customers. Can't speak for Harvester though.

@@Thorpeman I don't personally think it has anything to do with making an effort - I think certainly many places will do this purely to reduce the amount of expensive things people shovel onto their plates. I am fairly sure that at least a few businesses will just be keeping a buffet going in secret in the kitchen and plucking things out to order. The disadvantage of this of course is that you don't get to see that one rather ropey sausage that's been sat around, or pick your own option from the best looking bits of food.

I have to say the bacon looks nice in harvester and the sausages looked better in harvester too. However brewers fair made me wanna go there!! Literally everything in that restaurant was perfect! The price, the pastries, and most importantly the sausages as they looked very greatly cooked! One thing I noticed in the video is the smile on your face when ur at brewers fair I think u thought you’d wanna go there again all the time as u were super super super exited personally don’t blame u I would be as well 👍. Final note beefeater and brewers fair I think are the same thing but both owned by one company. I’m not exactly sure but I think it’s white bread.

Id always butter my toast before anything lol Im Australian and i love avocado as a iteam ,chips is not a thing. Harvest is my preferred choice, there sausages look better . You built your own breakfast and chosen chips because it was a choice id leave off and the mushrooms it takes a minute to go and ask them for the missing item which they give you .so all good 🇦🇺👍

Have come to view (recently) Branstons' beans as being better (thanks to BaldFoodieguy), Grown up on Heinz but Branstons darker and saucier but less liquid. Not sure I could go for the guacamole and definitely no chips as breakfast, I personally wouldn't be able to get them down,

Agree with this. It must add to the cost using Heinz so I can only think that there are certain guests that simply won't abide anything but Heinz. Wetherspoon also use Heinz but - worse still - they use the low sugar and salt ones so they taste like ass. Personally I would be fine with most beans, and if they wanted to put some of the Heinz premium towards better sausages and bacon then I really can't imagine many people would complain. Anyone actively demanding chips for breakfast arguably needs therapy 🤣

Hi EIE ! (sorry, don't know your name ) I would love to see you go to a place that serves a cooked breakfast but in the American style. For example while we do have Heinz beans in tomato sauce, a sweeter molasses based baked bean is what we have in many different flavors. We use primarily streaky (belly) bacon served quite crispy, we have the usual flat has browns but also breakfast potatoes that are individual chunks cooked with onions and a little spicey, we have full pork sausages but also smoked sausage (kind of like Polish keilbasa), tomatoes, mushrooms and toast are the same the world round. We don't have black pudding here (although my grandfather who was originally from Newfoundland did get it many years ago from a local butcher) but they'll served you a side of corned beef hash, grilled until it has crispy bits on it. I'd like to see a British cook's take on our brekkie and which one you preferred. Almost forgot, of course we do have fried eggs but I'd have them give you a nice Denver omelette instead. it has ham , onions, green peppers and American (or your choice) cheese. I love them

Hi, I really enjoy your videos. I am making my way through them. I do have questions. Why do the breakfasts come with 2 of each item on the plate? Can one food item for each be ordered? For me 2 sausages, 2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, etc would be too much food. Are you able to eat everything without getting sick? Or do you leave most of the food. How do you prepare for a video? You can order as much as you want. 2 of everything usually fills me up pretty well. I finish all the food unless I don't like it. I don't prepare lol I just go there and eat the food 😀

Harvester. not sure about the chips. as there to fill you up vs getting meat like sausage and bacon. with the cost of £10.49 and unlimited drink + £1.49. £11.98 has to be a loss a point for missing off an item ordered. Brewers fayre so £9.99 total. i did not see any cereal, fruit and pasty in Harvester. I would have got 1 egg and a portion of scrambled egg. Brewers will have the food in the containers if they are more busy just so food is not wasted or goes cold etc. I think that since Brewers black pudding is thinker it does not dry out and go hard as fast as the very thin Harvester version if there is an item missing you should ask a member of staff as they may be more in the kitchen.

you have to ask more on 1 how do you have enough time to eat at two different places. the 2 how can you eat so much food. he has had two breakfasts in the same day in a few of his videos. I would say for all you can eat and to enjoy the food it would be better for the amount of food to eat on different days

I used to work in a Harvester and I wouldn't eat anything that comes out of their kitchens.

Shoppers have been left in shock after seeing a 500g pack of Lurpak butter has rocketed in price to a whopping £5 in Iceland - having apparently recently been on sale for £3.65. The eye-watering price comes as many families across the UK continue to struggle under soaring household bills and fuel prices as the cost of living crisis bites. This year, annual grocery bills are estimated to jump up by £380 as food inflation costs reach a new 13-year high. Harvesters eve meal has really gone downhill. I used to go all the time for years but the quality is bad. After c they started to serve customers their salad bar. Luckily people fought back and it got in the news. and after a statement from them saying customers preferred to be served at the salad bar they had to U turn lol.
