CITRUS TIME! Have you got any of these cultivars growing in your orchard? What citrus are you in love with that I should consider for future citrus planting? Amazon affiliate link to the snips I used in this video: CORONA Short Curved Snip: amzn.to/2YgE1cD

I live in AZ in a city surrounded by citrus. When you pick, you pull and rock the fruit and push on the stem at the same time and they will release easily. Best way to pick with one hand. I have never snipped one in my life. Nice videos

Great tip! That definitely works (especially for very ripe fruit). I noticed that for ripe mandarins, there often isn't enough leverage to pop it off because the peel is so detached from the flesh, unlike oranges, lemons, etc. Thanks for watching, Jesse!

Thanks for actually showing how to harvest and when to harvest. Including the pull test and the right secateurs to use for cutting the ones that need cutting.

You bet! That's the kind of stuff I'd wonder about too

Nice video, Cameron! I'm envious of all your different varieties of citrus - mandarins, mandarin hybrids, sweet oranges, and seemingly everything in between. I'm giving a Page Orange a try... It is a hybrid of Minneola tangelo and Clementine mandarin, and though the fruit can be smallish, I think the flavor is truly exceptional.

Thanks, Austin. We're blessed with citrus out here! Page orange sounds intruiguing! On googling it, it looks like the more affordable sources only ship to a few southeastern regions. I'll add that to my "may just have to plant it" list

So nice of you! Congrats on your new trees! What did you plant?

The Busy Gardener hi! I planted a couple mandarin trees, a peach and plum tree, a moro blood orange, two variegated lemon trees, and two Eureka lemon trees in pots because I ran out of room. Lol I also have a fig and lime tree that already produce fruit. It's a lot to figure out for a new gardener so I really appreciate your help!

Oh my amazing. I have a question whats the best mulch
@TheBusyGardener3 жыл бұрын
The best mulch is the one that actually gets put down, 😂. Seriously though, a chipped hardwood mulch is best (like what tree companies use). Here is one video, but I've got a handful of mulch related videos: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bdRgormf283UZJ8.html

I've got some kumquats in containers! They're not fruiting right now, however, so another time :). That mandelo is GOOOD. Stay tuned for my taste test vid.

Nice collection, Manny! You should start to see production start to increase dramatically in the next few years as your trees mature. Any favorites of the bunch?

The Navel in Riverside California originated from Brazil, imported to Washington, hence the name Washington Navel.

@@TheBusyGardener In the Caribbean they don't turn orange like they do here, mostly green with some yellow on the bottom. My tree was killed in 2017 Texas winter, it was loaded. I now have a small tree still in a pot with 5 large fruits on it. I love those oranges.
