Got a few OCA tubers from Brian yesterday and just watched the video on how to grow them. Really excited to see how they grow and most importantly how they taste. Thanks Brian.

So interested in these. Have not had any since I left New Zealand where we ate them a lot. They are especially good done around a meat roast. I have looked for them in the U.S. and have not found any. Grow potatoes every year with great results so I hope I can find them.

I just purchased some Oca and have put it into storage until I can plant them out, to be even half as successful as you would be amazing. Thanks for the great advice

I'm in New Zealand NZ yams *oca* is an everyday food for us when its in season. My most favourite roast vege ... caramelise them so they are toffee like chewy on the outside and airy soft in the centre. They are so yummy.

It would of been easier sticking them in your tromal Tony....lol.....I've never tried OCA might try one of two next year....in fact i might try them in a couple of my 30 litre potato pots....Great update as always mate keep them coming With Regards Mark

been growing these for a few years. I tend to dig one plant at a time, was I eat them, rather than take them all at once and storing them. I've got a couple this year that I didn't get to last winter, that came back nicely, they will be first up this year. I'm in Derbyshire, so it gets quite chilly.

Thanks for the info on these strange things... Oca, This coming year I'm growing Jerusalem Artichokes for the first time...Thanks to you and Claire, I love them and cant understand why I haven't grown them before (I did have a bit of wind to start with but ok now) Haha, But these look similar and I reckon they would be good with fish (you said lemon taste) Um I'll have to have a look round for some. After digging them up wash them. Saves time when you eat or cook them.

You got a great harvest of them there. You could have left them a bit longer though, we wait until the tops have totally died off as all the nutrients from the stems go into the tubers and swell them up even more. We grow ours in tyres (as you have probably seen on our latest video). which makes them easier to harvest and you don't seem to leave as many in so they wont keep coming back. Quick tip, save the little ones, as even those will make good plants next year. All the best and Merry Xmas and a happy new year. I'm going to have a go at these. Can they be grown in big containers like potatoes as I have limited space? Glad your crop abundant. I can't get out on my garden yet. It's still wet and dark.

Why not replant the biggest ones now? They won't sprout till spring anyway. Would of like to seen in the bucket afterward. Beautiful loam sir.

@@simplifygardening Do you know if there’s much of a difference between the various varieties of oca ? Seems like there’s still loads of research to do on oca 🤷🏻‍♂️
