For some context, Baker gets drafted 1st overall to the Browns, a bad team (a story that never ends well for any QB). He actually does a pretty good job but suffers some injury setbacks. He then gets shuffled to the Panthers, an even worse team. He then gets shuffled to the Rams, his first good team, and he learns the playbook in a couple days and plays great. Since the Rams have Stafford, he gets shuffled to the Bucs, a bad team (went 8-9 last year with Brady, the GOAT)....and yet he's now 10-8 heading into the divisional round of the playoffs. Think about all that change taking place during your 20's with different teams, coaches, coordinators, playbooks, fans, cities, relationships, etc. Whatever he lacks, it's not mental toughness.

Horrible takes. Bakers had 8 head coaches in 6 years. 5 of those years were with the Browns and Panthers the two most unstable organizations in football.

Basically all Baker conversations can fall into two categories: honest conversations about the fact that he’s clearly not a bum but might still need to prove a bit more, and haters. How can you tell the difference? One will talk about his statistical outputs given the immediate context of the season as well as the historic context of the place he is at. The other will say “psh! Baker threw 4000+ yards, 28 TD’s , 10 Ints, and made the pro bowl…… those are top 10 stats for a QB in the league. Guys like Mahomes, Allen, Jackson, or Burrow are so hard to come by. Baker is right in that tier below them, he’s proven that with the year he had. If I was the bucs, I’d offer him a solid 3-4 year deal (if mahomes is making 40-50 Mil a year, baker should be getting 20) Imagine if you put Baker on the 49ers, you really think he couldn’t do what Purdy has done? Long term deal? Probably not. 3 years, maybe 50 guaranteed and 75 total doesn't sound too unreasonable. The one thing I will say in defense of Baker is that it's hard for him to be consistent if the team around him isn't or if he's hurt like he was his second season with the Browns. Give him an opportunity to build with coach Bowles and the players around him, build confidence and trust, and if his play improves and elevates year after year, then you know it's time for that long term deal

So we hear more goal posts being moved exactly like Acho said, "well the division was bad, well the Eagles were bad," since when were the Jags a bad win? The Packers that no one's really sure what they're capable of now that just shut down the Cowboys that these talking heads were projecting as a super bowl team all year?? No one just rolls a dice and wins a division. I wouldn't say the NFC South is much different from the AFC West this year, but no one's doubting the Chiefs' potential. This is the NFL, there are no absolute certainties and the certainty and disrespect of some of these people is appalling.
