Has Bill Burr Gone Soft?

Hey everyone, in this video we cover the topic of Bill Burr and if he's become soft and changed ever since he got married, had kids, and moved to Los Angeles, California. The answer is yes he has changed, but I don't think he has sold out. Getting married and having a daughter will make any man softer, but I do not believe that is a bad thing. I think he has remained authentic to who he is as this change has happened, and not everyone is going to like that. Maybe Patrice O'Neal would make fun of him, but I really don't think that it would affect their friendship at all. What do you guys think about Bill Burr and his evolution over the years though? A lot of people got mad at Nia for flipping Donald Trump the bird at UFC 295 but I really don't see the problem with that. If you enjoy this comedy lore enough please like the video, subscribe to the channel, turn on post notifications, and share this with someone you think would enjoy it. Thanks for watching, I love you guys.

You gave to be truly delusional to think Burr hasnt lost his edge. He plays it much safer and closer to the chest than younger Bill. He made his bag, he has everything he needs in life, and now he is coasting. That's not even criticism, he is still funny, but his comedy just doesnt make waves anymore. He plays it safe and once in a great while we still see a glint of old angry Bill, but for the most part, he is a different person. That isnt bad, he seems happier, he just isnt as funny as he used to be

He’s certainly not as rough around the edges but based on his SNL monologue and his willingness to still bust balls of guys like Bill Maher and others on their shows gives me hope he’s still got a least a sliver of that edge. Still love Bill, but he’s definitely softened up overtime and that’s totally okay!

The funny thing is, on the other hand, he’s also done some TV stuff that feels like it wouldn’t be out of place in that Mr. Birchum show. The scene of him smoking on his porch and ranting at the guy telling him not to is just sorta weak comedy imo. It’s pandering basically

I can guarantee that i have different views and opinions than Bill. But that’s not gonna stop me from liking his material. Plus i would say he’s gotten a little softer but that’s not a bad thing. He’s probably very happy with his private life, you still see shades of the old angry Bill but this older, wiser Bill is great too.

Love this paragraph from Jerry Corley - and he's right: "Evolving your material as an artist to reflect your life is not called selling out. It's called being an artist." And what Billy Boy is currently going through in his life is no different than, say, how Richard Pryor's trip to Africa moved him to stop using the N-word in his live shows. Or people initially getting angry at John Lennon for putting out songs about baking bread and doting on his five year old son...

I have tons of respect for Bill Burr, as always. As to Nia, my respect for her is in proportion to the intelligence (or lack) of her actions. The difference with before is he's happier, more level headed and self reflective, older, gone to therapy and he's able to control the rage and anxiety more. To feel frustrated he's softer, more open and more chill says a lot about you and your problems. Plus, if you need some ranting, just listen to his podcast

And also, shit man, at what point are you allowed to just ease up, kick back, and enjoy yourself and the life you’ve built off of what you’ve accomplished? Haha at some point you gotta focus more on being an awesome parent for your kids, and not constantly being a raging lunatic. Its a pretty normal thing for every guy to even out as he gets older. As a former leftist myself I think Bill has definitely changed and not really for the better….FROM MY PERSPECTIVE. Bc I’m single with no kids at a completely different stage in life and with different priorities and perspective. He’s not “agreeing” with his wife, he’s doing what a person in a healthy marriage does and is sticking up for his spouse publicly. I doubt he was super thrilled about what she did behind closed doors and I’ll be surprised if we ever see her being “politically divisive” publicly again bc, as someone with similar anger triggers, I’d be having a serious discussion w my wife about how her actions not only negatively effected ME. But then put me (Bill) in a situation to defend you, which AGAIN negatively affects me just to minimize the negativity you felt from YOUR own actions. So, maybe if this becomes a pattern we can question if Bill’s balls are in a jar, but it’s only the ppl who want him to have all the same opinions they do (remind you of anyone? Cough cough modern leftists.) To me there’s a big difference between someone having different opinions and someone who you realize just has no principles

@charliedillon1400 have you even seen any of his stand up, let alone his specials? His dad had pretty bad anger issues and when you're a little kid hearing your parents fighting and screaming it's scary as hell, and according to him that was not uncommon and obviously he's inherited his fathers temper, which is the main thing he's been going to therapy to deal with. You really think just because someone didn't live through financial struggles with their family as a child, they can't still have a traumatic upbringing? Money don't matter to a kid regardless but especially if they're locked in their room once or twice a day trying to hide from their parents screaming matches.

Yeah of course it's dying if your only jokes are about pronouns. Anyways, he has a wife and kids and seems happy, mellowed out. I doubt he wants to be angry 24/7. I don't think Bill has given up of his comedy or anything like that, but I do think he was kind of a dick to Anthony. I was a fetus when O&A was on air and I only started learning English for real in the early 2010s (again, a fetus), so I can't speak with property on the subject, but Anthony never hid the fact that he was kind of racist, he talked about how his entire family was racist and that's how he was brought up. I know Nia was offended, but the guy runs a comedy show. Also, why the fuck is calling someone ugly reason enough to do that? Seriously, there are children who act more grown up than Nia. Also Anthony was canceled because of racism accusations due to interactions with a woman in NYC. He went from being a guy who could openly talk about these touchy subjects and work on it through interactions with black people (Patrice being the best example) to a full blown racist - just check his Twitter account. That said, I still find him funny.

People just start saying he's soft because he doesn't agree with their limited views. He's what's called a free thinker, a concept difficult to fathom in our crazy world. The fact I don't agree with all he says makes me respect him more.

No, he's not a free thinker. During covid he wanted everyone to abide by his limited view of the situation. He wanted freedoms taken away from people who disagreed with the official narrative (the people who ended up being correct, by the way). He has gone Hollywood and will no longer veer off the approved path.
