Comprising a potent laser gun, advanced surveillance system, and a command center, the Iron Beam sets new standards in air defense technology.
The Iron Beam's remarkable cost-effectiveness sets it apart. The Israeli Defense Ministry is contemplating its integration into the military arsenal, diverting resources from expensive interceptor missiles that can cost up to $50,000 per unit. In contrast, the Iron Beam can intercept threats for as little as $2, driven by its efficient use of power. However, the system faces limitations, especially in adverse weather conditions and colder months.
Despite being a game-changer in air defense, the Iron Beam does have operational parameters to consider. Its range is not infinite, and the "bloom effect" causes the laser's impact to wane as it travels through the air. Additionally, it requires sustained contact with a target for several seconds to inflict damage, unlike traditional interceptors that detonate on impact. Expected to be operational by 2025, there's potential for earlier deployment in response to ongoing rocket threats from groups like Hamas.

That is just #misinformation that is not even logical. Have you any idea how many communications options they really have? They have a 70 meter deep tunnel network. If HAMAS is not sharing that with civilians that says a lot about what HAMAS is really like.

Israel is not occupying Canaan. Israel is indigenous to Canaan. Arabs are not. Arabs are actually occupying 2/3 of Israel's indigenous land. And it's still isn't enough for them - they want all of it. On top of 22 countries they already have. Never seen a nation that greedy for land.

Yeah it is a fiber laser, it has the effect of compressing the pulse into a very short but intense one and also widening the spectral range of the light.

Laser light is can be seen if the laser is in the wavelength range of human sight. Some lasers operate in the infrared range and the light isn't visible to humans.

@@patrioticz2858 Nah I remember when I worked with the people building Australia's frigates, one weekend nobody the was unessential was allowed on the docks as they were testing a laser so powerful that any spill from a problem with the optics would be dangerous. +20 years ago.

Iron dome is not "one of the most advanced" it's really effective only against homemade missiles from pipes, not modern super- and hypersonic missiles

Which is exactly what it is designed for. It isn't a long range interceptor system. Something like the patriot system would be absolutely crap for this kind of work. Different tools for different jobs.
