I published a story about adidas Basketball a few weeks ago. The heat up really began last year. I feel like the design-engineers avoided stuff that looks too derivative by simply approaching each new signature model with the athlete in mind while utilizing the variety of ‘90s and ‘00s EQT as “ground zero”. It’s so smart because the end of EQT was pretty much the point that adidas Bball lost its way. Going back to “the lab” in this way is paying dividends. The off-court wearability was proven with the former YZY range. They regularly mined EQT, and it worked. So it’s good to see adidas take that lesson - The Archives Are King - and build upon it. The energy is undeniable. Nothing is priced over $160 unless it’s adidas Bball lifestyle. Outstanding. ✌🏽💙👟

- I managed to limit myself to just the first and ASG colorways, but it's been tempting to get them all. - The shoe designers confirmed to WearTesters that the midsole is full length jetboost. There is no lightstrike. The Harden 8 is also full length jetboost. (But the 7 wasn't.) - Size is TTS, even for wide footers (although maybe not 4E). They run a little long. - The laces issue is a weird one. The original pair came with extra laces, and some people say the blue pairs came with them as well, but others say they didn't. I'd love to be able to get the neon green ones for these. The nice box and extra laces were one of the big draws of the model to me. Which other brand gives you this kind of package for $120? I don't think there is one outside of China.

They should have provided the lime laces, period. But, I bought these too, and they did not. Either way, I do appreciate these shoes and agree that they will go down as a classic. We'll see how they follow these, whenever the AE2 comes.
